Gun Owners Refuse to Register Under New York Law
New American ^ | Jan 25, 2013 | Alex Newman

After Democrats in New York rammed a sweeping assault on the right to keep and bear arms through the legislature that failed to exempt police officers from the draconian restrictions, gun owners and even some lawmakers are planning what has been dubbed potentially the largest act of civil disobedience in state history. According to news reports, gun rights activists are urging everyone to defy far-left Governor Andrew Cuomo’s new registration mandate while daring authorities to “come and take it.”

Analysts say the legislation, passed in a frenzy last week in the wake of the Newtown shooting, represents the most brazen infringement on the right to keep and bear arms anywhere in the nation. Among other points, the so-called SAFE Act seeks to limit magazines to just seven bullets, require virtually all of the estimated one million semi-automatic rifles in the state to be registered with authorities, mandate reporting of patients who express indications that they may have thoughts about hurting themselves or others by doctors, and more.

Aside from being unconstitutional, experts on gun violence also point out that the draconian schemes are a bad idea: Studies have repeatedly shown that more guns lead to less crime, and the phenomenon is obvious across America — just compare Chicago or D.C. to Alaska or Wyoming. The mandated reporting requirements for doctors, meanwhile, have come under fire from across the political spectrum. Whether it will even be possible to enforce the bill, however, remains to be seen.

Preparations are already being made for mass resistance. “I’ve heard from hundreds of people that they’re prepared to defy the law, and that number will be magnified by the thousands, by the tens of thousands, when the registration deadline comes,’’ said President Brian Olesen with American Shooters Supply,

It will be the next American Revolution.

Actually, we are waging a counter-revolution. The Marxists and various other Statists are the revolutionaries!

I am curious why you think “disobedience” implies doing something wrong. To disobey is simply the negation of to obey. Disobedience to God, disobedience to godly authority, disobedience to the just demands of duly constituted authority that do not contradict God’s law, these are wrong. But disobedience to tyrants, to the commands of fools, to demands even of duly constituted legal authorities elected by popular vote when they are contrary to natural law or trample upon natural rights, are not wrong.

The classic examples of civil disobedience in American history — the refusal of American patriots to obey the dictates of the Crown, the refusal of abolitionists to obey fugitive slave laws, the refusal of black folks during the civil rights movement to obey Jim Crow laws — all involved doing nothing wrong, while by the very definition of civil disobedience, they all involved breaking a law.

Obama and Holder don’t enforce immigration laws. If they don’t have to follow the laws then why should we?

It’s funny, but I just read this on an on-line copy of the”Constitution” tonight when helping my daughter do research for a small college paper for the “Costitution”! Some of the passages are a little tricky to understand, and she says it helps her, because I can re-word things to make them easier if I understand it.

Some of these parts of the “Constitution” are really eye-opening! I hadn’t read some of them to any length for a long time. I was familiar with some of some of them, but some of them I hadn’t seen for awhile if I ever read them much at all since high school or college! Many of them are easy, because I see them a lot, especially when they discuss them on here, or see a movie where they talk about them.

If it was so important to get this law rammed through so fast, why did they give so long to enforce it? Aren’t “lives going to be lost”/sarc?

that is an excellent legal point there was no emergency..

This bill was a huge mistake.

Huge

I agree. Not sure why you say this, but I believe the government is crossing a burning bridge and won't be able to go back. I think they have created a law here that people will ignore and they do not have the will or resources to enforce it. Once the government demonstrates their weakness, patriots will begin to ignore more and more of their laws and regulations. Otherwise law abiding citizens become criminals.

Once this begins, sides begin being drawn.

One of the many problems with gun control is that it is inherently risk free to the anti-gunners. They risk nothing. If their stupid laws fail so what? They just trot them out again later. And if they pass then those of us who have firearms that the liberals beloved JBTs will come for later have lost something real and tangible.

Just as an aside, many patriots have lists with details as to names and addresses of prominent antigunners and some not so prominent ones like congressional staffers who actually write this stuff. For example I'm sure Christian Trejbal, who published the names and addresses of Virginia concealed carry permit holders, is probably on a large number of Virginia patriot lists.

"The government is preparing for the next civil war. But it will not be the north against the south. It will be the people against the government, so calling it the next civil war is a misnomer. It will be the next American Revolution."

I am calling it the "War of Leftist Aggression." It is not going to be pretty, but it does need to happen and the feds are pushing it on us. They soon will leave us no options. NY-ers need to stand their ground and stick to their guns. Their neighbors need to help them.

"We the People of the United States" havebeen working on a "Redress of Grievances" which has been given to us under the first amendment. This grievance will be relating to the violations to the United States Constitution when it comes to the right of the ppeople to keep and bear arms. We will be putting on notice every Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court and the Chief Justices of the fifty states in the union, each county sheriff and all members of the governing boards of each city, town, county in America of this Petition of "Redress of our Grievances". But we need you to get this done and NOW.

I haven’t read this whole thread, but has it been mentioned that the NYC police chief has been warning of new technology that uses radiation to detect “stores of weapons”?? He says it will take about six more months and then the technology will be ready to roll out and use.

Anyone hear that? It was on several radio newsbreak reports this weekend. The news readers sounded breathlessly ecstatic as they announced this.

I’m listening to this and asking myself, whoa, wait! If there’s no warrant to search someone’s place, then how could using this technology be constitutional? But the news readers sounded so ecstatic, I’m thinking they are thinking the cops could just take this technology anywhere and everywhere and tell exactly where everyone keeps their guns, and barge in and confiscate them.

I hope NYers are onto this, big time...

Take these government criminals to court, first of all, if this turns out to be what it sounds like it is.
