Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, moving to take a lead role in the gun control debate, is turning up the pressure on banks that do business with firearms manufacturers.
Emanuel is sending letters to two major financial institutions, TD Bank and Bank of America, which offer lines of credit to gun makers suggesting that they stop lending money to the manufacturers if they dont come out for new gun restrictions.
TD Bank currently aids the gun manufacturing industry through a $60 million revolving line of credit with Smith & Wesson, a gun manufacturer that produces the AR-15 an assault weapon that was used by James Holmes to kill 12 people and wound 58 in a crowded movie theatre in Aurora, Emanuels missive to TD CEO Bharat Masrani states. I ask you to use your influence to push this company to find common ground with the vast majority of Americans who support a military weapons and ammunition ban and comprehensive background checks.
Noting that Chicagos municipal employees and teachers had already divested money in pension funds from gun makers that are opposing new gun laws, the White House chief of staff-turned-mayor wrote: Now we need you and other commercial banks to join this fight for safer streets. Collectively we can send a clear and unambiguous message to the entire gun industry that investors will no longer financially support companies that profit from gun violence.

Yep.
Credit unions typically do not cater to small businesses. I am absolutely convinced that Obama and his band of evil cut-throats are bound and determined to run small businesses in the ground . . . including small farmers and farms.
You are right on!
I retired from a Federal agency years ago, but BofA keeps sending me a new government VISA card good for $10,000. Should I purchase S&W products. What should I do? I only have till o2/15.
Sounds like a good investment to me, if you can pay it off quickly so they don’t get a lot of interest revenue.
Do you think emanuel might know where all the criminals with guns do their banking? I suspect he has no problem with that.
All ammo and fire arm dealers, manufacturers should refuse to sell to the city of chicago.
Does he have Kevlar skin or something?
Seems like he's just as mortal as anyone else when it comes down to it.
the tobacco lawsuits made demonrat trial lawyers a lot of money...

Never had a credit card in my life, so I had never explored anyone’s policy on such.
I had decided to move my business acct when they messed with McMillan late last year but have put it off til I found the bank that would give me a small business loan at a favorable rate before I moved my account. Well I’ve found my new bank and I’m about to leap.
My family is boycotting Chicago, for life. Or, until the political leadership begins respecting and defending the rights of the people as protected by the Constitution. We will never spend a dollar in Chicago for tourism of any kind...even to the point of intentionally buying gas and soft drinks outside of Illinois, in Indiana and/or Wisconsin, before we drive the loop around Chicago going one way or the other. Let that city shrivel up and rot (faster).
I suggest that anyone and everyone who supports citizens rights do the same.

Thr gun companies should sue this homosexual for tortious interference.
Can any Free Republic legal types tell us if it is legal for a Government representative to use the power of his office to threaten and intimidate a legal business activity?
