HELENA, Mont. (AP) Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf has been moved from a drug treatment center to the Montana State Prison for threatening a staff member and other unspecified behavioral problems at the center, a corrections official said Thursday.
The former San Diego Chargers and Washington State Cougars quarterback was charged last spring with breaking into two houses and stealing prescription painkillers near his hometown of Great Falls. He pleaded guilty in May to reduced charges, and his five-year sentence called for spending nine months in a locked drug treatment facility as an alternative to prison.

Sad story
Sad indeed. How far he has fallen... I guess he hasn’t reached bottom yet however.
Very sad indeed. This guy had the talent but wasted it.
A dumba$$. Wonder if he voted for Obama.
Lets make dope legal so we can destroy the minds of thousands like this idiots mind was destroyed by dope.
I remember when there was that fake anticipation of whether the Colts were going to draft him or Peyton Manning. Everyone knew they were going to take Manning, but the bigger surprise was how bad this guy turned out. It not uncommon for a 1st round QB to be a bust, but you combine his cockiness and his felonies, it is truly sad.
For awhile it looked like he turned around and was an assistant coach at a small college in Texas, but he was steal pain killers or something.
This story is right out of “The Longest Yard”.
Some draft “analysts” like Mel Kiper rated Leaf higher than Manning. I guess that’s why Kiper isn’t an NFL GM. After that, I pay absolutely NO attention to anything he says. I wonder how he still has a job on TV.
Oh well, so does Karl Rove and that Morris toe-sucker.
Yeah he is typically wrong. I remember most people I knew had no doubt about Manning. Maybe it was because I was from Florida, and we were in the SEC crowd.
Love the classic con uniforms.
they even gave him the dress version with collar
"Great Falls." Nomen est omen.
One turnover this quarterback needs to make is to turn over a new Leaf.
His drugs of choice are prescription painkillers.
Let’s keep it illegal so this guy has to commit felonies to get high. While we are at it let’s arm thousands of Mexican drug lords with the money the illegal drug trade creates.
Thousands are doing so already - and all the laws against it accomplish is to channel hyperinflated drug profits into criminal hands. And there's no reason to expect a substantial increase in drug use under legalization; how many people are undeterred by the dangers of the drugs themselves yet undeterred by the remote chance of arrest?
How’s that War on some Drugs working out?
If drugs are banned only criminals will have drugs? (except those with friendly doctors Rx)
If guns are banned only criminals will have guns? (except law enforcement and elitists)
Which comes first the drugs or the destroyed minds?
Get back to me when the gov’t can keep drugs out of PRISON.
Otherwise, the WoD seems to be a resounding ‘success’ already. (Excuse me, I think there’s someone pounding on my front door.....) </s>
I was wondering how long it would take for you guys to come along LOL
Are we sure he wasn't just traded to Pittsburgh?
