Actually, there are probably a lot more that 16.8 gun sales during the year. Off hand, I'd say I bought at least 8 weapons during the year , and two just recently and didn't need a NICS check for any of them here in Georgia with my CCW license.
The concept that a National Agency to oversee ALL firearm transactions, and approve or deny each transaction is just short sighted and wrong.
I was a teen when my Uncle GAVE me my first firearm [ a 410 shotgun ]. In my 20’s, and upon my return from VietNam I recieved a 22 rifle as a welcome home gift.
When one of my best friends move to the country, I gave him a 22 hornet varmint rifle.
When a neighbor was transferred oversees , by the USAF, I purchased his pellet gun, his spray paints & his solvents
When I pass, I intend to WILL my firearms to specific individuals.
I don’t see any need or Reason for a Federal Bureaucracy to be involved with stuff like that.
Don’t will them; if you do, there’ll be a public record of who got what - and thus, an easily traceable path to the new owners.
How many are first time buyers?
THAT is the key.
It is not enough for the same people to buy more, we need more new citizen owners exercising their right.
The reality is there are two ways to deal with a human being, reason or force. The liberal mind cannot function within the rules of reality.
This is not about hunting, never was, never will be.
It is about personal protection from ALL enemies.
Anytime a polician says, ‘we respect the rights of hunters’, either doesn’t understand the issue or is lying.
I know two people who recently purchased hand guns. One of which was recently converted gun control advocate. Both also were certified CCW.
The AR-15 black rifle, a version of which was used to slaughter the innocents in Newtown....
Would someone clarify this for me? Based on what I read, I thought the AR-15 was locked in the trunk of the perps car and he used semiauto pistols to kill everyone.
“How many are first time buyers?

Bingo! One of the reasons ammo prices stayed high (pre-Newtown) was the number of new folks coming to shooting.
On recent trips to public ranges, the number of young and women shooter (apparently new as they were being lovingly instructed by husbands, fathers, brothers, boyfriends, etc.) has grown markedly over the last several years.
Bodes well for weight of arms.
KYPD
Yeah, I got thrown off by some of the early reports also. Apparently he had a shotgun in his trunk. He used the 'AR-15' for his murders, and then he used a pistol to commit suicide. At least that is the last version I heard.
And unenforceable...
Case in point,
Today: My buddy Joe comes over, we start talking guns, I mention that I've been wanting to thin out my collection and plan to sell "X", he says he will give me $500 for "X", he hands me the cash, I give him the gun case closed.
How "universal registration" is suppose to work : My buddy Joe comes over, we start talking guns, I mention that I've been wanting to thin out my collection and plan to sell "X", he says he will give me $500 for "X". We drive to the local firearm dealer and both fill out a lot of forms, have a background check run on Joe (paying whatever that costs, I'm guessing the firearms dealers aren't going to do all this for free). Then we wait weeks or months for the transfer to be granted...
What will really happen under "universal registration" - My buddy Joe comes over, we start talking guns, I mention that I've been wanting to thin out my collection and plan to sell "X", he says he will give me $500 for "X". But he wants the gun now and I want the money now and neither of us wants to fool with all the paperwork. So he pays in cash and I backdate a receipt before "universal registration" just in case we ever get any heat for it.
Thanks for the clarification.
That’s assuming you are in compliance with unconstitutional gun laws to begin with. Most won’t comply on currently owned weapons.
Test...
The founding fathers told us many years ago what to do in times such as now.
I’m buying a 20 gauge for my wife at the end of this month and taking her out to shoot.
I know she’ll love it, because it’ll be her first.
LOL....you go, Pat! Don't hold back....tell'em what you really think!
add to this homes where wives who USED to be “uncomfortable” with their husband’s hobby suddenly stated learning to shoot (and safely) it finally dawned on them SHE has to know how to protect her children from some drug crazed/obamazombie/nutjob.
