The concept that a National Agency to oversee ALL firearm transactions, and approve or deny each transaction is just short sighted and wrong.

I was a teen when my Uncle GAVE me my first firearm [ a 410 shotgun ]. In my 20’s, and upon my return from VietNam I recieved a 22 rifle as a welcome home gift.

When one of my best friends move to the country, I gave him a 22 hornet varmint rifle.

When a neighbor was transferred oversees , by the USAF, I purchased his pellet gun, his spray paints & his solvents

When I pass, I intend to WILL my firearms to specific individuals.

I don’t see any need or Reason for a Federal Bureaucracy to be involved with stuff like that.

Don’t will them; if you do, there’ll be a public record of who got what - and thus, an easily traceable path to the new owners.

The concept that a National Agency to oversee ALL firearm transactions, and approve or deny each transaction is just short sighted and wrong.

And unenforceable...

Case in point,

Today: My buddy Joe comes over, we start talking guns, I mention that I've been wanting to thin out my collection and plan to sell "X", he says he will give me $500 for "X", he hands me the cash, I give him the gun case closed.

How "universal registration" is suppose to work : My buddy Joe comes over, we start talking guns, I mention that I've been wanting to thin out my collection and plan to sell "X", he says he will give me $500 for "X". We drive to the local firearm dealer and both fill out a lot of forms, have a background check run on Joe (paying whatever that costs, I'm guessing the firearms dealers aren't going to do all this for free). Then we wait weeks or months for the transfer to be granted...

What will really happen under "universal registration" - My buddy Joe comes over, we start talking guns, I mention that I've been wanting to thin out my collection and plan to sell "X", he says he will give me $500 for "X". But he wants the gun now and I want the money now and neither of us wants to fool with all the paperwork. So he pays in cash and I backdate a receipt before "universal registration" just in case we ever get any heat for it.
