Last year, in 2011, we started reducing the deficit through $1 trillion in spending cuts. Those have already taken place. The agreement being worked on right now would further reduce the deficit by asking the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans to pay higher taxes for the first time in two decades.

I saw the rally (it was not a dignified speech) and I was somewhat puzzled when I heard him say that. I understand *why* he said it, though. He doesn’t want to cut spending. He wants to raise taxes, not “just a little bit.” And he’s not going to “ask” for the higher taxes, he’s going to take it by force. Duh.

He should be jailed just for what he does to the art of language and the science of Math.

Deficit Reduction is not the same as spending cuts. Deficit reduction can be manipulated by making it LOOK as though there are cuts, when there are only cuts in planned increases. No actual cuts occur, they’re just on paper. Those are the kinds of cuts that Dems love to tout, when THEY do them, but crucify Repubs. for, when THEY do it.
