What you’ll see in the rebellion

Let me explain, gun grabbers, how your confiscatory fantasy plays out. Let us imagine for a moment that a sweeping gun control bill similar to the one currently suggested is passed by the House and Senate, and signed into law by a contemptuous President.

Perhaps 50-100 million firearms currently owned by law-abiding citizens will become contraband with the stroke of a pen. Citizens will either register their firearms, or turn them in to agents of the federal government, or risk becoming criminals themselves. Faced with this choice, millions will indeed register their arms. Perhaps as many will claim they’ve sold their arms, or had them stolen. Suppose that as many as 200-250 million weapons of other types will go unregistered.

Tens of millions of Americans will refuse to comply with an order that is clearly a violation of the explicit intent of the Second Amendment. Among the most ardent opposing these measures will be military veterans, active duty servicemen, and local law enforcement officers. Many of these individuals will refuse to carry out what they view as Constitutionally illegal orders. Perhaps 40-50 million citizens will view such a law as treason. Perhaps ten percent of those, 4-5 million, would support a rebellion in some way, and maybe 40,000-100,000 Americans will form small independently-functioning active resistance cells, or become lone-wolves.

They will be leaderless, stateless, difficult to track, and considering the number of military veterans that would likely be among their number, extremely skilled at sabotage, assassination, and ambush.

After a number of carefully-planned, highly-publicized, and successful raids by the government, one or more will invariably end “badly.” Whether innocents are gunned down, a city block is burned to ash, or especially fierce resistance leads to a disastrously failed raid doesn’t particularly matter.

-——independently-functioning active resistance cells——

= militias

This is precisely what took place in East Tennessee in the 1790’s where the British and the Cherokee’s were a threat. The citizens were armed and grouped together. They elected a leader that became the officer in command

Collectively, the isolated groups gathered and marched to South Carolina where they soundly destroyed the Brirish army and turned the tide of the Revolution

If we could only find someone with the skills to do that. Any suggestions?

King’s Mtn should be more famous than Bunker Hill.

That’s why the mighty US military disarmed the Taliban so easily.

True, that.

On the other hand, if the government turns against its citizens, the rules of engagement will be merciless here compared to how our troops are hamstrung there.

People need to watch video of our men and equipment (and esp drones) taking out insurgents from miles away if they think the citizens of this country can resist the state with AR15s and hunting rifles.

You're both ignorant of history, and doing nothing but helping the oppressor's side with your ignorant posting. A small number of middle class Jews resisted the Nazi war machine for MONTHS, with only handguns, even though the entire nation and military of Poland fell within days. Back then there was, I'm sure, no shortage of buffoons like you who said that nobody could stand against Nazi Panzers and Messerschmitts and Blitzkreig tactics and SS cruelty... and yet a handful resisted for far longer than anyone could have dared dream. It merely takes the will to do so... and vile cowards like you do nothing but try to sap that will, even before it is needed.

Certain politically "blue" states/regions will likely be expelled from a future union, with massive population shifts of those still seeking Liberal Utopia and those preferring a Constitutional federation.

Can you name a single instance in the last 2 centuries where a civil war ended and the losing side merely was "expelled" from the resultant union? Sorry, that's not how it happens. When the loser is finally done fighting, they are still brutally treated, thoroughly punished, constantly humiliated, and utterly subjugated. The hellish war that we are likely to have is going to be vicious, and the winning side will NOT be forgiving to the loser for making the war happen. (Winners write the history, and they rarely write that they started it.) IF we have to go through CWII, and IF the Left loses, then the "blue" areas like New England are certainly NOT going to be excluded from the renewed union. They just will have no power, will have clearly different rules to live by from the "red" areas, and will suffer for at least a decade.

And if the "red" states lose... the vicious mistreatment by the winners will be astounding, shocking, and unreal.

My point is simply that without the cooperation of our own military, any resistance to US government tyranny will go nowhere. And that is always the big question in any of these debates - what will our military do if and when our government turns against our people and their constitutional rights? No one knows until and if it happens.

As far as the rest of your silly ad hominem attack goes, my only concern is what and how God judges.

And to you LJ!

We need to be careful in these discussions that we really understand the cost of armed rebellion and the real chances of anything even resembling “victory.”

Nevertheless, I always keep in mind these two quotes in these kinds of debates:

“Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than live as slaves.” - Winston Churchill

“Actually, I am a Christian, and indeed a Roman Catholic, so that I do not expect ‘history’ to be anything but a ‘long defeat’ - though it contains (and in a legend may contain more clearly and movingly) some samples or glimpses of final victory.” - JRR Tolkien

It really does not depend on the military. It depends on control of the information flow. If the state is able to control the flow of information, we lose. If they cannot control the flow of information, we will likely win.

It will not be suburbanites with deer rifles against Marines.

It will be former Marines, hunters, firearm instructors against politicians, media figures, big city political machines, and their staffs.

It will all come down to information flow and the freedom to spread information.

That's true, but not a hopeful element for constitutional rights in a time of crisis under this regime:

Obama signs order outlining emergency Internet control A new executive order addresses how the country deals with the Internet during natural disasters and security emergencies, but it also puts a lot of power in the government's hands.

Obama gives himself control of all communication systems in America US President Barack Obama quietly signed his name to an Executive Order on Friday, allowing the White House to control all private communications in the country in the name of national security. President Obama released his latest Executive Order on Friday, July 6, a 2,205-word statement offered as the “Assignment of National Security and Emergency Preparedness Communications Functions.” And although the president chose not to commemorate the signing with much fanfare, the powers he provides to himself and the federal government under the latest order are among the most far-reaching yet of any of his executive decisions.
