NEW YORK (Reuters) - A suburban New York newspaper that sparked an uproar among gun enthusiasts by publishing names and addresses of residents holding pistol permits is now planning to publish even more identities of permit-toting locals.
Further names and addresses will be added as they become available to a map originally published on December 24 in the White Plains, New York-based Journal News, the newspaper said.
The original map listed thousands of pistol permit holders in suburban Westchester and Rockland counties just north of New York City.
Along with an article entitled "The gun owner next door: What you don't know about the weapons in your neighborhood," the map was compiled in response to the December 14 shooting deaths of 26 children and adults in Newtown, Connecticut, editors of the Gannett Corp.-owned newspaper said.

I wonder if there is a gun permit for that address.
Absolutely!
Didn't this paper learn ANYTHING the first time around?
DOLTS!
Also, if staff of this paper have guns, did they leave themselves off the published list?
Nothing shows up on the map at that address. They have a few neighbors one street over that could protect the hood.
I miss our forefathers...
Blowback is a bitch...
I wouldn't be surprised, either.
If you're employed by the regime, you're toast! < /sarc >
Find. Stalk. Abuse. Kill.
Restraining orders sometimes don't work at all.
Ex-wife is a target either way when the ex-husband is just nuts, which is why ex-wife left and maybe has a gun and a permit.
I've already seen that info here on more than one thread.
I wonder if she is smiling that broadly now that the info on HER is out.
“Actually, some very good unintended consequences will come of this.”
An enterprising firearms seller could use the list for targeted advertising if they weren’t already
“Our forefathers would have burned the records.”
Our forefathers intended there be no records
That part has Been Done
(my neighbor is unarmed I wont stop you if you rob them)
Oh man just imagine what would happen if you did. You would get sued probably.
Liberals would rather be killed, beat up, raped...what ever home invaders do...than be protected by evil guns!
Of course the high profile leftists who scream that no one should have guns, have armed bodyguards and work in buildings that are safe because of armed security.
Liberals believe that these reports tell bad guys where to steal guns.
So a psycho kills his mother, steals her lawfully acquired firearms, and kills 26 children and the thoughtful response is to publish the names and addresses of lawful gun permit holders?
This is liberalism.
Perhaps someone should float a bill registering all reporters, writers and their editors?
Just in case.
I went to her twitter account and on the left it gives you the option of sending her a message. So I sent this:
Your info is all over the internet, still enjoying driving your red convertible with the top down? Creepy having no privacy huh?
What can nosey neighbors do when they learn the guy next door owns a firearm? Because gun ownership is legal there's nothing legal they can do. But they can start a whispering campaign, shun the gun owner in public, and sic their children on the armed neighbor's kids. They could picket and put signs in their yards. That's what the Journal News hopes to accomplish: run gun owners out of the state by stigmatizing them. This is all in the spirit of Obamaism—mob rule.
exactly ... not clean.. not nice... but, they asked for it..
Dont get me wrong. this stuff has to stop. But I think pressuring the government who is turning this info over is where the fix will be.
I'm not convinced that the government should have disclosed this information under New York's Freedom of Information Law (FOIL). Under the NY FOIL law government can withhold information that could, if disclosed, endanger the life or safety of a person or where disclosure constitutes an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy. Think about it.
