My Vaio stopped working this morning. The little disk light goes on and on. I took it to this diagnostics guy who said he would be able to tell if he can get it going.
My question. Can the hard disk be replaced? I have been looking for replacements and havent seen one I like as much.
I surf, run my website, check email and bank online. Not much else.
help!
It is still at the repair shop and I am waiting for the verdict. It is a vaio

Never heard of it. Where does it put the backup?
I had an acer and could not find a good one online. Need fast. 16 inch screen would be nice.
Tech called and said the disk is damaged. Wants a little over a hundred to put in a 300 mg disk. He diagnosed it, did it on a weekend. Makes sense to me. I can do the system restore.
God I hope the maxtor actually worked.
That sounds reasonable, the hardware alone is at least 50.
Something I read a while back.
It actually worked for me when a 120GB hard drive on my desktop started to act funky.
Take the hard drive and put it in a plastic bag.
Then, put it in your freezer!
After a couple hours, take it out and plug it back in.
You now have about 15 minutes of successful run time before it starts acting up again, or maybe just fails outright.
I was able to rescue everything I didn’t have backups of, so worked for me!
I know. It’s tough being unpopular. At least my family loves me. :)
Well, to you and your Family, Have a Happy New Year and safe holidays ;^)
