Orwell would be in awe at the manipulation of reality here.

Not only Orwell. Joseph Goebbels would be awestruck also at how the White Hut clown has manipulated everything for the past 5 years, just freakn' unbelievable. Rush had a great show today about the "low information" voters (i.e. moron voters).

Okay, so why does Mark Levin say this is a good thing?

1. Because the Senate wasn'[t going to pass the House bill anyway. The Dems want to go over the cliff.

2. Because the Republican House was going to blamed for the calamity in any event, regardless of any action they took.

3. Because it demonstrates the GOP caucus has not lost sight of why they were elected -- they retain at least a shred of principle and honor.

4. Because it means that, in all liklihood, Boehner's service as Speaker has come to an end. This serves as a rousing vote of "no confidence".

I know the democRATS would have blocked it, but then the onus would be on them to come back with something or they would have looked like the ones sending us over the cliff.
The conservative GOP members didn’t vote for it because of the lack of sufficient spending cuts

I guess if you believe in the Constitution, unalienable rights and not killing the economy by bargaining with a dictator you’re a purist. Who knew?

why would the dems have accepted it even if it passed the House.

It would have depended on reaction if it passed.

If the GOP passed it and were able to follow it up with the message that they DID raise taxes on millionaires and protected most small businesses and that the Dems had earlier said they wanted a "millionaire's tax" then Reid might have come under pressure to pass a similar one.

At the very least I think the Senate would have been pressured to reconcile it with a bill that previously passed in the Senate which would result in a bill much better than the one the WH wants.

Even if the House voted it, Plan B was just political cover and could never become law.

Boehner’s problem is he has no personality and can’t win the PR war no matter what he does.

onus on them? good one. the media would have covered for Obama and the dems like they always do. There’d have been no onus.

that’s the same attitude Israel had when they left Gaza and Lebanon. Now the world we’ll see who acted and we’ll get credit down the road. Right.

This has all been a show so far. Nothing real will happen until around Dec 31 ar 5 PM. Then things will start to get real.

RE :”You make enough to pay taxes on? Be thankful.
I haven't seen positive income in 3 years”

I don't think the GOP will get too far with that line of argument, that is why those who defeated this bill called it a tax increase bill instead of what it was, now our taxes go up.

What is your education and career experience since you volunteered the subject?

So right, we need a ton of spending cuts - Boehner should have put enough of them in there to get all of the GOP behind it - he thought he would get some democRAT votes, he should have known he wouldn’t get those.

I guess if you believe in the Constitution

However, the Constitution DOES give Congress the power to levy taxes.

Problem is...if you insist on 100% of what you want (no tax hike at all on millionaires) you may end up hiking tax rates for thousands and thousands of small businesses instead.

Really stupid on the part of the Republicans. They had victory within their reach and once again have failed.

I know not much of an onus, but at least something - now Boehner said he is now letting Reid & 0bama put together a plan

Boehner should have taken care of routine House business and then recessed after Thanksgiving.

Could this be enough to cause Boehner to be replaced as Speaker in the next Congress?

Nah. Pubbies won’t want to embarrass him, so they might grumble and growl, but they will reelect him.

I’m thinking a bunch of congressmen are realizing that they’re getting creamed with their own base.

What do you think?
