Deeply affected by the massacre at Sandy Hook, gun owners in Camden, New Jersey, America's deadliest town, turned in a record number of weapons in a buy back scheme over the weekend.
1,137 firearms including an elephant-gun were handed in on Friday and Saturday at two churches in the crime-plagued town as the ramifications of the mass child killings in Connecticut seemed to inspire residents to give up their arms.
'We heard that there were a number of gun owners on Saturday who had publicly said, in light of the situation that had just occurred in Connecticut, they wanted to turn in their weapons,' Paul Loriquet, a spokesman for the Camden police, said in an interview with Philly.Com
Among the weapons handed in were scores of rifles, shotguns and pistols, sawed-off shotguns, a century-old antique weapon, a rifle used for hunting elephants and five fully automatic weapons.
Some 90 per cent were in working condition.

Is this government propaganda?
Here’s a thought- Let’s make it illegal to carry a gun onto school property, and let’s make it illegal to murder people, and let’s have really really strict gun control laws like they have in Chicago, and let’s make sure law abiding citizens are not allowed to own guns like they are in Chicago for the most part- and let’s make the laws so hard to own guns that people don’t even bother trying to get guns anymore like in LA and areas around California- that will surely put a stop all these gun killings- woops- no it won’t- they ONLY thing it does is make law abiding citizens a target of CRIMINALS whop WILL squire guns no matter what- just like they do in states where it’s impossible for honest folks to get guns to protect themselves- For those crying for gun control- I would encourage you folks to walk down some back alleys in places like LA, Chicago, NY to get a first hand look at just how well unassuming law abiding citizens really works- Flash around lots of money as you’re walking those back alleys too- after all, gun laws will make you perfectly safe and you won’t ever have to worry about criminals obtaining guns, right? Oh yeah- and people are still being murdered BY GUNS in those countries that outlawed guns- the only difference now is that those people being murdered have absolutely NO way to defend themselves!!!
For those claiming places thta outlaw guns don’t have gun crimes- bull:
“The Government’s latest crime figures were condemned as “truly terrible” by the Tories today as it emerged that gun crime in England and Wales soared by 35% last year.
Criminals used handguns in 46% more offences, Home Office statistics revealed.
Firearms were used in 9,974 recorded crimes in the 12 months to last April, up from 7,362.
It was the fourth consecutive year to see a rise and there were more than 2,200 more gun crimes last year than the previous peak in 1993.”
They probably gave up weapons that were ‘hot’, or that were worth very much less than the buyback.
And, the people who turned them in are NOT the people who would commit violent crimes with them.
So they just got a bunch of guns that would never have been used in a crime anyway and disarmed the poor victims.
Maybe it’s just me, but those look like shotguns and hunting rifles. Not an AR or AK that I can see.
No sidearms, either.
I consider this an opportunity to cull and update one’s personal arsenal. That old broken single shot 20 gauge, the Hi-point 9mm handgun or carbine, etc. Even some of the other junkers that don’t work, can’t get parts for and the like.
It’s kinda like the Obama program to buy up used cars to spur new car sales...yeah! Like that!
After the break,
Home robberies surge in Newton CT..film at 11
That's my first thought. I don't remember Camden, New Jersey being a very likely place to find a lot of deer hunters. How many of those rifles were reported stolen from suburban and rural homes in the surrounding counties?
I hope when they said "no questions asked" they didn't mean "no fingerprints or DNA samples taken".
How did they manage to NOT shoot each other with all those guns?
So now, according to liberal logic, Camden’s crime rate will plummet and it will be the new shining pearl of the east?
Is this government propaganda?

Isn’t Camden one of those ‘endangered’ cities, laying off Police etc?
My question is: “Just at a casual glance, if the weapons pictured in #3 are the latest haul, at 250 a pop, where did they come up with 1 mill, give or take, cash for those weapons, ON a moments notice”?
AND if these were all just civic minded citizens, they would have foregone the cash and just turned them in.
Like WC used to opine “Definitely an Ethopian in the fuel supply here”.
The second they took one fingerprint, everyone else would leave.
1000 less law abiding citizens able to defend themselves in one of the deadliest cities in america eh?
Who’s brain child was this, and what happens to the by back guns?
I suspect they will be sold, for a tidy profit.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this is an easy way to get rid of murder weapons. If I were in charge of the Camden PD, I’d photograph every “donor” and weapon and fire every one of them for a ballistics test. Just in case.
Hi-Point 9MM
Suggested Retail $155
$250 leaves some room for ripple wine and some ammo!

I happen to have a Hi-point 9mm carbine...dirt cheap as I remember bought in a fit of boredom. I even sprung for a stock refit kit that makes it look just like a Beretta CX-4 carbine, but it still aint worth what these fools are paying. I’d put that cash against a Colt LE6920 or a good Bushmaster, to tell you the truth.

I must have suddenly become a ‘journalist’, just running with the first # that came to mind...I did miss the figure in the text but even that math doesn’t work out...
OH WELL, anything for a ‘scoop’.....<: <:
