Republicans need to "have a discussion on guns" in the wake of last week's grade-school massacre in Newtown, Conn., Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told his conference Tuesday.
Speaking to his troops at a closed-door meeting in the Capitol, Boehner was mindful of conservatives' traditional opposition to new gun restrictions, emphasizing that Republicans wouldn't do "anything knee-jerk," according to a lawmaker in the room.
But the Speaker also said he wants to "de-politicize" the issue of gun violence, which has been thrust dreadfully into the national spotlight following the murder of 26 people 20 of them young school children at Sandy Hook Elementary School last Friday.

An Obama Phone awaits you.
Honestly, there has to be some procedure to remove this POS from leadership. WTH kind of geldings do we have representing us these days!? My goodness, we have got to start fighting or we’re lost for good, first taxes, then guns, and tomorrow climate change. We’re being railroaded, overran, and unequal to any challenge.
How did this pantywaist become Speaker?
“Sixteen GOP House members want to dump Boehner as speaker.” Got a list?
The more you go down the slope, the slipperier it gets.
END of DISCUSSION
I call for Boehner’s resignation from the speaker’s chair.
It’s time for a discussion on mental health and focusing on the problem of unstable and dangerous people remaining in open society by the policies implemented by liberals to slow and prevent institutionalization. This guy was crazy, as have been the other recent mass killers. If guns aren’t available and you have a crazy person intent on killing, doesn’t really take that much intelligence to come up with another vehicle of death.
Time to stand up and blame the liberals for their policies that result in innocent deaths!
Yep. If they roll over on this issue, I’m out as well.
Hope they enjoy minority party status for a generation, because I suspect you and I are far from the only ones who feel that way.
Agree completely. I hope they know it.
Republicans need to “have a discussion on guns”...???
Rino’s get the hell out of my way!!!
I wonder how the effort to overthrow Boehner as speaker is going? While I’m not expecting any foolish press releases by those who might pull this off, I would relish seeing Boehner’s machine fall apart.
He doesn’t impress me as someone who creates loyalty in others. He rules by threats and intimidation. If he is not elected speaker on the first ballot, the short knives will come out.

“If he pu$$ies out on this like he’s done on everything else it will be the absolute destruction of the Republican party”
LOL. Welcome back from outer space. It’s Dec. 2012 and the Rep. Party under the leadership (not) of it’s Speaker has joined forces with the opposition.
Excellent testimony and video clip. This and similar witness needs to be a loud and long part of the fight back against the huge attempt by the left to roll back our rights and ability to defend ourselves.
She wasn’t squeamish about slapping Brady with the fact that he wasn’t shot with an assault rifle either.
BOHICA
The Republican party already looks bad with these RINOS running it..but if they do this, if they go on with the libs for “Gun control” thats it, thats pretty much destroying the Republican Party
