A&E doctors are calling for a ban on long pointed kitchen knives to reduce deaths from stabbing. A team from West Middlesex University Hospital said violent crime is on the increase - and kitchen knives are used in as many as half of all stabbings.
They argued many assaults are committed impulsively, prompted by alcohol and drugs, and a kitchen knife often makes an all too available weapon.
The research is published in the British Medical Journal.
The researchers said there was no reason for long pointed knives to be publicly available at all.
They consulted 10 top chefs from around the UK, and found such knives have little practical value in the kitchen.

I think they have a law in place to where all knives have to have rounded points. Starting with kitchen knives. No more sharp points.

Do these idiots not realize what a good weapon many every day objects will make?
Eventually they will ban axes, shovels, hatchets, pickaxes, screwdriviers, long sticks, rocks, etc.
There will always be weapons no matter what they do.

It may be blunt, but what if it’s still sharp? What if someone gets slashy with it? All knives should be blunt and dull.

The grinder itself is a FAR better weapon. And a cordless 4 in grinder will hack off/into body parts with impunity.

I’ve never managed to cut anything with my angle grinder (mine’s a 4 1/2”) that I didn’t intend to cut, but I did manage to drill into my left thumb once.

I was cutting a metal tube and the wheel fragmented. Grinder kicked back hard and went half-way through my left index finger into the bone.
Through a leather welding glove.
Nothing a little duct tape couldn’t cure ;)
Seriously though, and I’m sure you are well aware, they are far more destructive than any knife ever invented.. Better ban them.
