PPP's first post election national poll finds that Republicans are taking the results pretty hard...and also declining in numbers.
49% of GOP voters nationally say they think that ACORN stole the election for President Obama. We found that 52% of Republicans thought that ACORN stole the 2008 election for Obama, so this is a modest decline, but perhaps smaller than might have been expected given that ACORN doesn't exist anymore.
Some GOP voters are so unhappy with the outcome that they no longer care to be a part of the United States. 25% of Republicans say they would like their state to secede from the union compared to 56% who want to stay and 19% who aren't sure.
One reason that such a high percentage of Republicans are holding what could be seen as extreme views is that their numbers are declining. Our final poll before the election, which hit the final outcome almost on the head, found 39% of voters identifying themselves as Democrats and 37% as Republicans. Since the election we've seen a 5 point increase in Democratic identification to 44%, and a 5 point decrease in Republican identification to 32%.
It seems there’s been quite a lot of talk of secession lately. Retiring Texas Congressman Ron Paul even released a short video about how the act of secession is a “deeply American principle” passed on from our Founding Fathers, or something. But for those who actually believe allowing certain states to secede from the Union is a good idea, I would respectfully recommend re-reading the first five or so Federalist Papers, in which Publius explicitly warns about the inherent dangers of (a) disunion and (b) the creation of multiple confederacies.
Furthermore, I would also be the first to admit that the results from the 2012 presidential election were utterly devastating, and took me completely by surprise. But call me crazy -- I don’t think the election was outright stolen, let alone by a political organization that reportedly doesn’t even exist anymore! The fact is that Team Romney made a number of costly mistakes, not the least of which was spending precious time and resources in “battleground” states that weren’t really competitive -- before locking up Florida, Virginia, and Ohio.
The best thing Republicans can do right now is look forward to (and prepare for) 2014 -- when the GOP has a real shot at retaking control of the Senate -- instead of dwelling on the past.

I am in the process of making a decision of whether or not to Secede from the Republican party.
We lost because the party picked our candidate.
We lost because the party allows New Hampshire and Iowa to pick the candidate in their first primary.
We lost because our candidate said he would rid us of Obamacare, when he friggin invented it.
We lost because our candidate did not fight.
We lost because not one Republican in Congress REALLY stood behind our candidate, not one came out strong attacking the system or the administration.
With more than 50% of the voters cashing federal checks and our politicians feeding the free stuff mindset, what is the option to secession?
Hard to see that in Virginia. We were outgunned by Planned Parenthood (using our own tax money). We stayed home in rural areas and conservative parts of rural areas and turned out elsewhere. We have easy registration (supermarkets, flea market, park and ride, etc) and both sides were relatively motivated here. But we didn’t get the votes and even assuming some fraud would not make up the difference. At least we had no 100% Obama precincts like Philly and Cleveland, although we had a 99.
I find it a little obscene that the election was decided by legions of voters in large urban areas, who don’t function above a 6th grade level, scoff at the notion of holding a job, and couldn’t have a policy discussion with a piece of meatloaf.
Drive through the major cities...you see those guys hanging out on the corner? They are our masters. We are their slaves.
That’s the aspect of how it was ‘stolen’...requirements to own property, pay taxes, or be literate to vote have been dismissed from our society as mean and racists. Its onlt logical that we are now in this situation.

Some said the TEA PARTY doesn’t exist anymore either. Hear us roar in 2014. Of course, we will still be thrown out of polls as watchers, and there’s little we can do to fix the voting machines that automatically default to democratic candidates.

If all these things about Republicans are true, then that means that the default position is socialism, abortion, gay marriage, lies, as who faults the RATS for their personally demonizing every opponent? No one, that is accepted as normal.
Compare the classy Republican convention to the depravity of the Democrat convention which glorified abortion and, oh, yes, by all mean, contraception is a legitimate campaign issue.
I saw the Republican party as being the party of sane, moral people while the Democrat party is the party of liars and perverts.
I’d bet the one-term only presidents were honest men and didn’t want to cheat. The rest do for sure.

You know darn well that a third party would have no chance at all. I think what we need to do is unite and not divide ourselves as those who want to join a third party do
People who do not grasp this fundamental issue will never succeed. Funny that Romney actually voiced it. But we need to do something about it. And it is going to have to happen at the state level. First, the states need to go to war against the voting rights act.
The poisonous seed sown by the left is now bearing fruit for them. One of those is the voting rights act that keeps getting renewed. It was originally only supposed to last five years, now it has had two 25-year extensions in a row. It basically nullifies a states ability to regulate their own election.
