Stating a fact doesn't make one pro union. I hated being in the union and I'm a pro right to work guy and there are even pro union right to work supporters. In fact the GOP would be wise to reach out to those guys like Reagan did instead of attacking like some kind of stupid conditioned response.

I am actually borned and raised on Publix. It was even my first job. My father was a Publix manager in the 80s and 90s and made great money. However, I moved to CT with the Navy and the supermarkets up here are mostly unionized.

What I find that ultimate irony many libs refuse to shop at Whole Foods because of their Non-Union stance.

I think it is about time that we stop beating up on Boehner and McConnell all the time and say a few prayers for them instead.

If Boehner/Boner & McConnell would get their heads out of their cowardly asses and actually stand up against 0dumb0, perhaps a few more prayers might be said for them. If Boehner would declare ABSOLUTELY that the debt ceiling will not be increased by even one penny, demand 1 TRILLION in spending cuts THIS YEAR, and demand that the Bush tax cuts be extended 100% across the board....and then adjourn the House for the rest of the year. If Boehner would have the guts & balls & courage to do this, then maybe conservatives & Christians would pray more for Boehner & McConnell.

When I joined the union at Wesclox a year out of high school, I was pleased to be making a wage that seemed to be a good bit more than my other apparent alternatives. Unlike other jobs, there I was recruited. At the time, I considered I was onto some kind of insider information. Not until years later did I full appreciate how union folk differentially treat those that can beef up their ranks of like types, e.g., gays, as a weapon against those considered to be outsiders or even foes, e.g., conservatives.

Union folk hang together against "the man" (-agement). In a momentary fit of altruism, they'll call to their mind's eye how so-and-so of their number was screwed because they were ailing and not able to make their piece-rate (quota of output). I was quickly made aware how I was not to work hard or quickly (as a material handler), or they "would all be made to work harder". I wouldn't want that, would I?

Well, I wouldn't want the anger of the burly guy telling me that to come down on me--that much was clear--but I had been getting personal satisfaction about overcoming my learning curve for the job, and partly through finding efficiencies that allowed me to keep up with everyone else and all the bosses were telling me to do. I also saw how there was a pervasive slacker attitude among most of the workers that had no interest whatsoever going beyond the minimum of what their job demanded.

It took no time at all for me to realize that this behavior would make the products more expensive than they needed to be (even for my family on the outside, perhaps thinking they were doing me a favor by buying our product) and would give the competition, particularly foreigners who worked for less wage/ hour, opportunity to compete readily in a market held back by these unionists and their anti-productivity attitude that was counter to management at every turn.

We were made to think union products represented quality, but knowing how union inspectors worked, I didn't find that argument particularly persuasive.

From my school days, I knew that union violence was somehow unfairly protected against prosecution, and I pictured that I'd have to develop some kind of strategy to keep from getting hurt if there was a strike.

To make a long story short, I know first-hand the inherent destructiveness of unions and determined to get out of there and back to school to qualify for a job that would keep my life from being entangled with unions.

I did that, and was wildly successful!

At the same time you do have large institutions, e.g. the US government, where unions played a rather different part than you imagined.

For example, everybody in America can call or write their own Congressman ~ right?

Actually, not ~ at least not for most of American history. If you were an employee of the US government you were not privileged to write, call or contact your congressman, or senator, and neither was your wife or kids.

Some of the first 'associations' to grow up among industrial workers after the Civil War were the ones that went on to become government unions ~ their purpose was simple ~ pick out a guy, he quits the agency, he's your go-to guy who can talk to a senator or representative without fear of imprisonment, or, in fact, being beaten to death by republican or democrat party thugs.

The postal unions earned the right to speak to their elected representatives in Congress by agreeing to destroy Communist union organizers who were infiltrating the US government during the Great Depression.

They destroyed these pukes the old fashioned way and FDR wrote an Executive Order that allowed government employees to write letters to their members of Congress.

So many say that freedom is not free ~ and so it's not ~ not even the freedom you've already earned. You have to keep at it.

As far as smarts go, you know very well that your typical shopkeeper or 1 percenter (coupon clipper) just doesn't know anything at all about productive working life.

Folks might well ask themselves why unions continue to be tolerated, if not popular, among government workers.

Could it be that our elected political class is totally corrupt and cannot be trusted to manage public affairs or the people who actually have to carry out public policy?

For example, Obamugabe ~ is he trustworthy? How about Boehner, or Reid? These people are merely the tip of an iceburg of a public leadership sector in this country who are long overdue for some serious reform.

Working within THEIR system will get you nothing more than a replacement just like them. We need something better.

A tax on accumulated wealth is usually called a PROPERTY TAX. There are a number of variations on the theme, but such a tax is a direct tax ~ which is why the federales don't have the constitutional authority to levy them.

States do have that power, and do so ~ since they are not prohibited from engaging in direct taxation.

The income tax is a tax on income, not accumulated wealth, except for those millions of us who live paycheck to paycheck ~ then the income tax is a direct tax on accumulated wealth!

Fair Share = More than you’re paying now.

Fair Share = An “evolving” made up number.

There are many definitions. One man’s “Fair Share” is another man’s “not enough”.

Besides, it has nothing to do with paying your fair share. When Obama was informed by a Reporter back in 2008 that his proposal to raise Capital Gains Taxes would result in less Revenue, which he didn’t know BTW, his response was “it’s all about fairness”.

I have no idea what that means, but to Obama is just like the Judge that said, I can’t define Pornography, but I know it what I see it. Fairness is just Libtardspeak for control over a segment of the population that you hate, nothing more.

While you are correct, the progs haven’t acted in accordance w/the Constitution up til now. Why would they change? They don’t care. They have the SCOTUS backing them already & w/2 new progressive Justices, any argument of Constitutionality will become moot. IMO.

They would love to get us so riled we demand a Constitutional Convention. Then our Constitution will become a document of positive rights to be parceled out via the Federal Government.

The progressive states can already enact a direct tax and I think they will. When we have 50% of the States doing something, how long before it is *deemed* “Constitutional”?

I’m OK with the prayers but DO NOT let up on Boner and McC. They are our leaders at the moment and whether they like it or not are the ones who have to show some spine. If they get clever and start “negotiating”, giving away new money, giving Obamuzzie new authority, etc, etc., then we are indeed done for at least a generation. If they don’t like the heat they are free to step down.. Until they do tho I expect them to instead STEP UP.

100% of the states are sovereign and could always collect direct taxes ~ it's the federal government that was restricted to indirect taxation.

Eventually we need to eliminate the Supreme Court as just another failed government program.
