HOUSTONAs family members of a man who was shot by a Valero clerk in southeast Houston called for the store clerks arrest, the store owner released surveillance video.
Alexander Calloway, 21, and his two cousins were trying to enter the gas station on Martin Luther King and Belarbor around 3:30 a.m., but the store was locked.
The young men got into an argument with the clerk, who unlocked his door and came outside, police said.
Someone punched the clerk in the face and the clerk pulled out his gun and shot Calloway in the stomach, according to HPD.
Calloways cousins rushed him to a fire station on Cullen at Selinsky, and paramedics transported him to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.
On Tuesday, the store owner played the surveillance video for KHOU 11 News.
It showed the store clerk being punched by Calloway before the clerk opened fire.

Clerk should not have opened the door, but other than that ...
MLK at 0330, what could possibly go wrong?
LOL! Never bring a fist to a gun fight.

Haven’t watched the video, but am willing to bet the 1st thing I thought of is applicable:
We have a Martin/Zimmerman situation here.
Apparently his homies did have some guns.
I think I can be justified stating that these communities are calling for affirmative action justice.
That’s why the door is supposed to be locked.
In the hospital? Didn’t use enough gun.
When armed you should avoid confrontation. Unlocking the door was a mistake.
Yeah. We need more info.
.38? 9mm? .40? .45?
& what kind of ammo?
44 Special with Glasers works wonders.
I can just hear it now.
Self-defense while white? Life in prison.
If your son hadn't committed assault and battery he wouldn't have been shot.
May have been Calloway was playing the now famous knock-out game, but the store clerk was playing the shoot-out game.
I agree, going outside was extremely stupid.
I think that only works out in the movies.
Your link indicates Quanell X is already involved.
No surprise there.
But he may be right. He’s claiming the clerk left the store looking for a fight.
And why else would any one leave the safety and security of a locked store with bullet proof glass to confront punks at 3:30 AM on MLK Blvd???
Martin/Zimmerman; I tell ya.
(Anyone know yet the race of the clerk?)
If the punk would have knocked the clerk out, one can only guess what the punk would have done next.
For those not from this area, we have own very own little muslim community disruptor, Malcolm-X wannabe called Quannell-X.
...always somebody else fault, but never, ever the punk-ass gangsta roaming the streets at 3:00am.
