I don’t think the photographer understands that you can’t block the target’s ability to go where they want. When you do that, you verge on what is legally defined as kidnapping.
While judges don’t like exhibitions of violence, they aren’t going to tolerate a reporter confining someone in their own car against their will either.

What a headline! In fact, as the door was being closed, the snoopy camerawoman shoved her camera forward. The door then hit the flash of the camera, which in turn cut the forehead of the photographer. From out of that to get Broadwell smacked a reporter in the head with a car door is quite a reach.
