So Romney could have saved 45,000 just by being elected.
That’s about a trillion dollars worth, in Porkulus terms.
sure do........, and they were warned....., and they would do it all over again, can’t fix stupid.
Are these just announced layoffs, or actual people already out of work? Also, how many are layoffs unconnected to the election, i.e. are any of these due to the end of temporary situations or failed business models/competition? I think one of the “companies” on that list is the Anniston weapons depot, which is stopping work because they don’t have any more weapons to destroy. Another is RocketDyne which is downsizing because they lost the space race to Space-X.
How soon before Obama has a directive 10-289 (Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged, New York: Random House, 1957):
In the name of the general welfare, to protect the people’s security, to achieve full equality and total stability, it is decreed for the duration of the national emergency that:
Point One. All workers, wage earners and employees of any kind whatsoever shall henceforth be attached to their jobs and shall not leave nor be dismissed nor change employment, under penalty of a term in jail. The penalty shall be determined by the Unification Board, such Board to be appointed by the Bureau of Economic Planning and National Resources. All persons reaching the age of twenty-one shall report to the Unification Board, which shall assign them to where, in its opinion, their services will best serve the interests of the nation.
Point Two. All industrial, commercial, manufacturing and business establishments of any nature whatsoever shall henceforth remain in operation, and the owners of such establishments shall not quit nor leave nor retire, nor close, sell or transfer their business, under penalty of the nationalization of their establishment and of any and all of their property.
Point Three. All patents and copyrights, pertaining to any devices, inventions, formulas, processes and works of any nature whatsoever, shall be turned over to the nation as a patriotic emergency gift by means of Gift Certificates to be signed voluntarily by the owners of all such patents and copyrights. The Unification Board shall then license the use of such patents and copyrights to all applicants, equally and without discrimination, for the purpose of eliminating monopolistic practices, discarding obsolete products and making the best available to the whole nation. No trademarks, brand names or copyrighted titles shall be used. Every formerly patented product shall be known by a new name and sold by all manufacturers under the same name, such name to be selected by the Unification Board. All private trademarks and brand names are hereby abolished.
Point Four. No new devices, inventions, products, or goods of any nature whatsoever, not now on the market, shall be produced, invented, manufactured or sold after the date of this directive. The Office of Patents and Copyrights is hereby suspended.
Point Five. Every establishment, concern, corporation or person engaged in production of any nature whatsoever shall henceforth produce the same amount of goods per year as it, they or he produced during the Basic Year, no more and no less. The year to be known as the Basic or Yardstick Year is to be the year ending on the date of this directive. Over or under production shall be fined, such fines to be determined by the Unification Board.
Point Six. Every person of any age, sex, class or income, shall henceforth spend the same amount of money on the purchase of goods per year as he or she spent during the Basic Year, no more and no less. Over or under purchasing shall be fined, such fines to be determined by the Unification Board.
Point Seven. All wages, prices, salaries, dividends, profits, interest rates and forms of income of any nature whatsoever, shall be frozen at their present figures, as of the date of this directive.
Point Eight. All cases arising from and rules not specifically provided for in this directive, shall be settled and determined by the Unification Board, whose decisions will be final.
“Primary elections lead to serious consequences.”

Yes they do.
I still wonder what would’ve happened if Sarah had decided to run. I was both pi$$ed and saddened when she opted not to run. I respect her decision, but I just can’t help and wonder.
You can probe the internals to your heart’s content at dailyjobcuts.com
Some of them are immediate, some are scheduled, a few are yes, but...
I tried to presort the wheat from the chaff, and only report hard numbers in the total, I didn’t even touch the closures column, as it is difficult to determine job losses vs reassignments.
Any input or insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
America was given a choice, jobs or food-stamps. The swing states picked food-stamps.
I'm sorry where?
A few years ago (I believe it was right before the 2008 election) I was watching a panel on one of the “news” networks, and one guy said that in the “new normal” a status symbol would be a job. He was right; as our standard of living devolves to that of Red Chinese peasants, fewer and fewer people have a “job” in the sense of the word from 30 years ago (adequate pay, benefits, health insurance, etc.).
In my area the only Americans breeding seem to be government workers (teachers, cops, etc.), and we’ve laid off thousands of them since Governor Christie’s property tax caps went into effect. Rather than shrink the need for “services” due to a shrinking population, the state has simply imported “replacement Americans” from Asia and Latin America to fill the seats in the schools and keep apartment/home vacancies down.
The government has successfully taken over the areas of education and healthcare by simply driving the competition out of business (high property taxes to pay for public schools closed many private schools, and reduced reimbursement for mandated treatment of uninsured and illegals closed many hospitals); companies (and many of the people they employed) fled the state, and soon it will be reduced to the permanent multi-generational welfare class, illegal aliens, and the reduced staff of government workers to police, house, and “educate” them...
No—Cook County Illinois. The prices were dropping up until the election, now they’ve started back up again.
Exactly (there is none).

All I care about is where is my free contraception?
We need at least 160,000 per month to stay even.
400,000 per month to begin reducing unemployment.
It doesn’t matter. All of the Mexicans and Blacks get assorted government free
stuff so creating real jobs is no concern for Zer0.
I can see 10% unemployment easily. Maybe a depression.
I’m planning for it. If you need me, I’ll be in my bunker cleaning my guns. :)
You’re right. Food stamps it is - until there’s not enough money to pay for them... Think “Greece” in a year...
Excellent analysis!
I wish you were wrong, but sadly you’re spot on.
That is good. I hope every one of them were an obama voter.
If you recall, obama said that he did not have a problem with six dollar a gallon gasoline. Gas prices went down for the election to get obama re-elected. The election is over, obama won, they are going back up. It will probably hit ten dollars a gallon this time.
Oh, good!! The BLS figure just dropped to 5.5%, Right?
