CIA denies Broadwell claim of “secret prison” in Benghazi annex

This seems like a pretty good reason to push the David Petraeus-Paula Broadwell affair from a boys-club peccadillo into a resignation-worthy event. According to a transcript of a speech by Broadwell at the University of Denver the week before the election, Broadwell told an audience that the reason for the September 11 attack on the Benghazi consulate was neither a YouTube video nor a celebration of the anniversary of 9/11, but a prison escape for jihadis secretly held by the CIA in its nearby annex.

Late last night, the CIA denied this report of a secret prison in its now-abandoned Benghazi facility:

The Central Intelligence Agency denied charges Sunday that its annex in Benghazi, Libya secretly held a few jihadi prisoners until it was destroyed in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. Paula Broadwell, the girlfriend then-CIA chief Gen. David Petraeus, made that claim during an Oct. 26 speech in Denver, Colo.

“I don’t know if a lot of you have heard this, but the CIA annex had actually had taken a couple of Libyan militia members prisoner. And they think that the attack on the consulate was an effort to try to get these prisoners back,” Broadwell declared during the speech, at the University of Denver.

“That’s still being vetted,” she added.

The CIA’s denial came just hours after Arutz Sheva, an Israeli news outlet, first published a partial transcript of Broadwell’s speech. By midnight Sunday, intelligence reporters with both The Daily Beast and The Washington Post were reporting and tweeting, respectively, that the CIA said her claim was false.

I thought the first time I saw footage of the so called safe room at the consulate that it looked more like a prision than a safe room. Who builds safe rooms with bars that can be shot through?

2 prisoners does not a secret prison make.

She NEVER said they had a secret prison. That was some butthole reporter's take on what she said, which was nothing more than we already knew.
Furthermore, this is really starting to pi$$ me off. Why are they trying so hard to destroy this woman? Something about this whole thing is just too far out of the realm of reason. They are trying to make a sympathetic figure out of petraeus and using every derogatory adjective they can think of for Paula Broadwell, and the more they do, the worse he looks. /rant

Anyone wanting on or off this ping list, please advise.

Affair or not, Broadwell is not a stupid woman. She knows the world of intel and security. That is why they want her destroyed.

BTW: I cannot believe the number of commentators who agree Petraeus needs time to get his life back together. I want to hear someone say “Too bad, so sad. Tell us what you know and then you can sink into oblivion.”

OK, its time for a Conspiracy theory. Get the US Ambassador alive and hold him as ransom for the release of the blind Sheik. That way Obama can release the Sheik and look good doing it. TaaaDaaah.

Why are they trying so hard to destroy this woman?

First it was about a video and they imprisoned the creator of the video. Destroying people is not something they worry about.

Now the video story has fallen apart (but that guy is still in jail) and congress is getting ready for hearings that will surely get headlines. Obama needs those headlines to be about something other than incompetence or worse. So a sordid affair between the CIA director and a "crazy" woman fits the bill nicely. Lots of headlines now about her, about her e-mails, about how nuts she is, about Petraeus lack of judgement.

And from now forward, anything she says will be viewed as the ravings of a lunatic. Anything Petraeus says will be viewed as self-serving attempts to shift blame for his own dreadful lack of judgement. That is if he ever says anything, which now looks doubtful.

That's why you destry this woman if you're Obama and his propaganda media.

BTW, WTF is a “social liason”?!! Rumor is her Kelley’s last name is Khawam, lebanese. Broadwell thought or knew that Jill Kelley and Petraeus were messing around too?

If the CIA is denying it, that means it's true and they're scared.

Put me on your Benghazi ping list ASAP. I totally agree that Broadwell is another smokescreen. Petraeus resigning - smokescreen. Holder resigning - F&F smokescreen.

Very soon, the idiots that voted for a second term will need to start speaking out or nothing truthful will ever be heard for the next four years.

Do you seriously think those who support this regime really care?

They get stuff, and rich folks pay.

What else is there?

A few House members from the Party's name we cannot mention will probably even bring in the old GENERAL BETRAY-US headlines.

Those who support this regime would not mind if republicans just shut up and die. Well, after they sign over all their stuff, for the common good.

Or maybe just work harder and send in more of the money, to pay for all the free stuff.

Those who oppose this regime are the ones who need to sit up and take notice, perhaps a more united front?

For the Timeline:

Her speech in Denver was October 26.

WaPo Headline:

House Majority Leader Cantor heard of Petraeus affair Oct. 27 from FBI source he didn’t know

I can not find a reference as to when Reichert was contacted by the "whistleblower." However Cantor is quoted in the NYTs as saying he was contacted by an FBI employee.

Biographer’s E-Mails to Woman Led F.B.I. to Petraeus

"...“I was contacted by an F.B.I. employee concerned that sensitive, classified information may have been compromised and made certain Director Mueller was aware of these serious allegations and the potential risk to our national security,” Mr. Cantor said in a statement. ...
