Theres one path forward for Republicans if theyre serious about reclaiming power in the future- do not capitulate to the failed ideas and destructive economic policies that President Barack Obama will assuredly quadruple down on in the wake of his re-election. Its one thing to win an election by misleading and bribing the masses, but let me be clear, as Obama would say- in no way, shape or form did the president win a national debate on the merits of his policies- and his policies, when they are fully implemented will undoubtedly cost us jobs, raise our taxes and further strain our already cash-strapped state budget.
Governor Rick Scott is showing the way forward if Republicans want credibility as the clear alternative to the statist interventions that Democrats offer, as hes declined to implement the state health insurance exchanges that were mandated with ObamaCare.
From the Sarasota Herald-Tribune:
Speaking on the New College of Florida campus following a meeting of the states university governing board, Scott said it will cost taxpayers and business owners too much to expand Medicaid and set up health insurance exchanges as called for under the law.
No one has been able to show me that that health care exchange is going to do anything rather than raise taxes, raise the cost of our companies to do business, Scott said, adding that expanding Medicaid would also require tax increases.
If youre curious to check out some first class stupidity about our states budgetary constraints as well as some general ignorance about how the health care system should work, check out the comments below the article.

Must be a different Jeb Bush than the one I had here in Florida.
Mine was a scumbag, who did things like confiscate 65,000 acres of "environmentally sensitive" private property "for future generations." He's also an open borders guy who has spent his years out of office admonishing conservatives for not being liberal enough.
Your Jeb Bush may be okay, but I hope mine chokes on a turd.
Gov. Scott’s not perfect, but he’s one of the top governors in the US that I can think of. Funny that all the tea party governors of the Class of 2010 have the “lowest approval ratings” around, such as Scott and Corbett (PA), not to mention Walker (WI) who did survive a recall.
Popularity is in the eyes of the beholder, I guess.
Overlooked in the current election process is the fact that Obama’s use of “FORWARD” as a rallying cry was also Adolf Hitler’s rallying cry in his 1933 Germany takeover election campaign.
On the bright side, the Sun-Sentinel did endorse Romney.
LOL
That's a good one.
Preach it, brother!!!
With some of the gains at the state level this election, maybe some of them will have the chutzpah to do just that.
Good article on why states should decline to set up their own exchanges and make the Feds do it ........

These Exchanges will NOT be up and running in any form by 2014 let alone being able to offer coverage and pay providers. So if an individual loses their employer health coverage or their employer does not offer coverage and they cannot afford private policies or make too much to qualify for Medicaid they will be without coverage AND then be “fined” on their income tax. Santa Claus has become the Grinch.
Jeb stood around and let insurance companies rape Floridians after Andrew and local governments run wild levying huge tax increases during the housing boom.
Rick Scott plays a very good tune and has been since he was inaugurated, Rick Scott in 2016, screw RINO Christie.
I am thinking that so long as a state has a Republican governor, it can resist Obama care but if those governors are voted out at the end of their terms and replaced with Democrats then there’s no more resistance. So how much can we depend on this tactic long term?
I can tell you, here in Texas, if it comes down to having to raise taxes to implement Obamacare or create an exchange, there will be one serious insurrection.
I really like your idea of just not setting up an exchange, which will put the onus on the feds to publicly admit how much the cost will be.
The health law mandates that states set up these exchanges but doesnt give them any money to do it. If states dont set them up, then the law says that the feds can set up a plan. But the law didnt set up any funding for that either.
All Boehner has to do is refuse to fund these exchanges (sorry, the federal government is broke.).
We may not be able to repeal O-care but we can start eviscerating it section by section.
This sounds fantastic to me. So... in order to avoid life under ObamaCare we have to move to a state with a Republican Governor like Rick Scott, Nicki Haley, Sam Brownback, Rick Perry, et al?
Here in the Socialist People's Republik of Connecticut, the 'RATs have been eagerly setting up the exchanges in gleeful preparation for ObamaCare. I will NOT live under ObamaCare under any circumstances. If we have to move to a Red State, so be it.
With the horrors on the way with a dying economy and Obamacareless, I think Gov. Scott will be just fine. In fact, I’m going to go out on a limb and say another 2010 is on the way.
The issue that is defining Scott currently is his push to purge the voter rolls of what he calls non-citizens. Half of all Floridians surveyed disapproved of Scotts plan to purge the voter rolls.
This country and the remaining patriots that reside in it are so screwed.
The health law mandates that states set up these exchanges but doesnt give them any money to do it. If states dont set them up, then the law says that the feds can set up a plan. But the law didnt set up any funding for that either.
The marxist plan is to dump a tsunami of health care costs on to the states and force them to tax to pay for it.
I have no doubt they are cooking up an EO for the kenyan to sign to get around the governors.
“Let us not give up!!!”
Allow me to add some meat to your statement.
We now control 29 states with republican governors. That’s up from 26 when patriots sent more than 700 republican legislators to state houses in the 2010 election.
Now, take back your village councils and county boards, patriots. Elect a constitutional, pro-2nd amendment sheriff, too.
