David Petraeus, the retired four-star general who led the U.S. military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, abruptly resigned Friday as director of the CIA after admitting he had an extramarital affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, according to a new report.

This is beyond suspect. I will never be convinced his affair was not known by the WH when he was chosen to head the CIA.

I am not defending the affair. I am not defending him. I do not doubt he may have sent “some” emails, but thousands? Throw enough crap out with the facts and there you have it. He is the appointed fall guy for Benghazi.

Paula Broadwell nee Kranz has a CV that reads like solid gold. Among her many achievements are these:

She has served with the U.S. intelligence community, U.S. Special Operations Command, and FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces.

So if she served with the FBI JTTF presumably she had been deeply vetted. What triggered the new FBI interest in her and or Petraeus? With her credentials and top tier personal references the trigger event had to be something substantial. Some lower or mid level counter intelligence agent/analyst/sigint came across a hot link that flagged her for further attention. Had to be at least a chain of sorts sufficiently serious to kick it up to higher levels implying a threat level. The discovery of her alleged attempts to access the DCIA e-mails and classified docs being released/leaked is also bizarre. It’s just not done if a case is being prepared. Sort of shouting,”run away, run away”.

If she is an agent for a foreign party the breadth of her access is an intelligence catastrophe. Hoping she just a sex-crazed poodle.

Back in April, 2011 when President Obama announced that General Petraeus was going to retire from the Army and become his CIA director, Reuters posted this interesting headline:

I read a few replies back to me, then stopped reading them as they were calling me names instead of dealing with what happened.

From the beginning of the thread they were stuck on “whore”, “slut”, etc., and you covered the general like they were presenting him.

I have now found out this happened between them in Afghanistan, and then he came back to be director of the CIA. She broke it off but he kept sending emails to her from his military email account. He wrote thousands of these emails, writing them every day.

He wanted this woman and “they” had an affair. No reason to call her names and no reason to call him names, it just happened.
