This is emblematic of the challenge: Obama Overwhelmingly Won Asian-American Vote
National Journal ^ | November 8, 2012 | Shane Goldmacher

President Obama carried 73 percent of the Asian vote on Tuesday, continuing a two-decade-long march of Asian-Americans toward the Democratic Party in presidential politics.

Obama improved his performance among Asian-Americans more than among any other ethnic group between 2008 and 2012, according to exit polling. His support in the community jumped 11 percentage points, from 62 percent in 2008.

The 73 percent support that Obama garnered was the highest since national exit polls began tallying the Asian vote, and it marked the fifth straight presidential election in which the Democratic nominee attracted a greater share of the Asian-American vote.

President Clinton won only 31 percent of the Asian-American vote in 1992. His vice president, Al Gore, was the first Democrat to capture a majority of the community, with 54 percent support when Gore ran for president in 2000...

Romney did not address the China issue properly. It put Asians on the defensive.
Today- The ‘manual’ Caruso-Cabrera (CNBC) on China’s new leadership plan mentioned ‘free markets’ numerous times. Interesting changes going on there.

100% of my business dealings as well as my partner are in Asia. That being China, Vietnam and Malaysia. Lumping them all together in that article is completely wrong. Vietnamese here are much more Republican leaning and the Chinese Americans this election cycle more Democrat leaning much of it do to Romney’s comments (not that he made them they know he’s right and will tell you so BUT how he made them) My US office is all Chinese and Vietnamese except for me I speak the languages and have residences in both counties. I know these people and knew that Romney blew it the first time he brought up China in a speech.

By no means do I think he was wrong, he just didnt need to do it the way he did. I have taken advantage of the currency exchange for years and profited from it. It has enabled me to provide competive product here than creates 10s of thousands of jobs versus the 1800+ employees I have overseas.

Disagree with me if you want but Griswold3 is on the mark.

The Democrats created the artificial category of “Hispanics” in the 1970s as a way to create another class of victims, which they could imbue with special rights and privileges, including affirmative action and minority business set asides. The result is another minority group that votes Democrat. It doesn’t matter that, according to the Census Bureau, 54 percent of Hispanics self-identify themselves as white. The Census Bureau has even created the phony category of “non-Hispanic whites,” which are now 66 percent of the population and will be 50 percent in 2042. The reality is that “whites” will still be more than 70 percent of the population in 2042.

Republicans are deluded if they believe that altering their views on immigration and amnesty will win them more Hispanic votes. Ronald Reagan signed a “one-time” amnesty in 1986, but that did not change the fact that the majority of Hispanics still vote Democrat. The reality is that historically the majority of immigrants, not only Hispanics, vote Democrat. Unless the Republican Party can slow down the immigration numbers, it will be the permanent minority party or become just another wing of the Democrat Party.

Hispanics are a natural constituency for Dems. They have a 50% out of wedlock birthrate and the highest school dropout rates of any group. 57% of immigrant headed households are on at least one major welfare program. Is it any wonder they vote two to one for the Dems?

Your ideas are sound, and the tone alright for those of us at this forum. But you need to tone down the anger, a bit, and quietly discuss the perceptions behind your conclusions, when you talk to those who are not yet awake to the nightmare being promoted by Academia & a Media that parrots the Leftists in Academia.

I make this point not as an adverse criticism; rather in recognition that you do, in fact, "get it." Because you do understand, you need to preach to others than the choir--that is my point.

“Interestingly enough, the only Asians I really know around here (southwest suburban Cook County) are Filipinos, and they seem to lean Republican”

That *is* interesting; Filipinos are overwhelmingly Democrat in HI (even more so than other Asian groups there) and in NV.

This is kind of symptomatic of a more general problem. In the past, Engineering majors were very conservative. Now a lot of them are liberal. Its the underlying K-12 education system.

RE :”While they’re probably not large enough to swing elections in most states, that is a big concern. Unlike Hispanics and blacks, you can’t say Asians are voting Democrat for “economic reasons”, especially since they often surpass white voters when it comes to being successful, educated, stable family, low crime rates, etc.”

I live in Maryland where the last decade or so has been a massive introduction of South Koreans and I have been warning about this for a while. Queens NY was invaded first in the 1990s.

Common myths I am told is that they are Rs because they are hard working, own businesses and go to church. Well they all dont own businesses nor do they all go to church. many go to church.

In fact you can see their young adult kids driving their expensive daddy bought cars, smoking cigarettes and playing rap music. You know they are voting for O.

I find the PRC Chinese immigrants much more conservative than these people.

Let in a mass of immigrants all with a different culture and language and send their kids to public schools and you got a disaster.

Lastly, does the GOP reach out to anyone but white male baby boomers? I am not aware that they try.

You cannot run two white guys again. You must develop and run articulate and telegenic representatives from these demographics on a national ticket.

Minority voters voting for a minority candidate. Simple as that. Racial politics trumped policy again this go around.

Perhaps the ethnic voters I know aren't reflective of voters nationally, but the only asians I ever see in town are elderly Filipinos who go to my parents church. There's a large group of them, these people are in their 60s, 70s, and 80s, have been married for 40 years, the men served in the military, and they're all "pray the rosary to stop Obamacare and the sin of abortion" types.

On the other hand, most the Hispanics I see around town are second generation Mexican-American, mostly young... teens - 30s. Many of them are single moms with multiple kids by the time they're 30. They think Obamacare is awesome and post on facebook every year about how freakin' wonderful the Chicago gay pride parade is (why any straight Mexican women want to see men prance around in pink tights and kiss each other is beyond me). If they're "devout Catholics" and "social conservatives", I'm the easter bunny.

Just an observation from my local community.

I absolutely have no “anger”. You misread everything I state if you “detect” anger where none exists.

I have a profound faith and love of God and hate evil and love the “Truth”. That is what I try to get across to the people who live in a “fog”. I know most people here—this is my choir—so I can be direct. Every word I choose is chosen because of the deep research and understanding I have of this long war between Good and Evil (God and Satan) which has been going on since the beginning of man.

I am very careful with ideology in contact with other people in life. I understand that “anger” people have when they realize they have been in Plato’s Cave—chained—for decades and have been lied to all their life. Their “Reality” absolutely shattered is hard to swallow and I know I am the target for that “anger” if I am the one who tries to “enlighten” anyone and drag them into the Light. I read Plato’s Cave.

I know this—I was there for decades in the fog and I have worked with children and saw the formation of Worldview—and that nature of man—pride—in “thinking” they know everything when in fact they are totally ignorant about the most important things in life.

When all my perceptions were shaped by the MSM and the university, I lived without understanding Reality. Coming out of the fog-—I WAS full of anger for a very short time —until I finally understood God’s Plan and this war between God and Satan. It took tons of reading and time and reflection, though.

I am like CS Lewis was after becoming a Christian-—Full of Joy. But, I am never fooled by evil anymore and can spot evil ideology in a nanosecond-—just by a “word” here and there or attitude. I immersed myself in the ideas of Marx and Baal and de Sade and Nietzsche and Vatican II—so that I can understand the enemies of Christ.

All the evil in the world originates from Satan. It is who unifies all evil. I recognize it and it needs to be pointed out explicitly, so people can grasp what is the Reality and what direction adopting evil leads to, which is spelled out in thousands of books on history. Culture shapes the minds of the young.....It is important to control that culture when it affects your children and teach Logic and Reason in the Aristotle/St. Thomas tradition.

The problem escalated when people refused to call Evil, evil. Pastor Bonhoeffer stated this was the end of Christianity in Germany. Children grow up with warped worldview—thinking evil is “good”.

We can just be like the Amish, which I am considering now with the reelection of the anti-Christ and our Satanic new “laws” which mock the Rule of Law (Higher Power and the concept of Justice, which is a Virtue).

It's all about the small business problem ~ the secretaries, the billing clerks, the dental technicians, the receptionists ~ a highly educated population with dentists, doctors, surgeons, economists ~ these guys all have anywhere from 2 to 25 employees ~ and they have to compete to get the best ~ because they want ONLY the best, and that means medical insurance.

Obama told them he was going to roll that burden over to the government and they wouldn't be bothered with it ~ nor would it run through their ever so precious cash flow (which is a concept that means something, but in certain quarters ~ small business ~ may well be something a little bit different, particularly the part you can avoid running through your accountant or your cash register).

The East Asians are suckers for this ~ their children less so. Three or four generations under their belt and they'll learn all about getting ripped off by street hustlers but that's a different story.

Its simple demcratic math. Basic division. Devide everyone into groups. Tell them you care about them and the evil rich white republicans don’t.

As I read her piece, it didn’t seem angry to me. Did the multiple “?” make you see anger? I didn’t read it that way.

Pretty much covers it but the guys with a handful of employees ALL seem to like Obama's promises ~ and they simply don't question that he can deliver on them.

Their opinion seems to be that when the top dog says things, that means something.

They never get over that. Their kids do.

Definitions ~ East Asians are from Big China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Burma.

Asian, in the British Empire, means one thing ~ people from South Asia ~ that is, Pakistan and India, and Sri Lanka. In America those same people are called Paks, Indians, and they look like Indians but they think they are different!

Asian-Americans are listed in the Census information ~ for a long time Thai-Americans were not so identified because, lo and behold, Thailand was an enemy nation in WWII, like Japan, and they were not included in the minority category for notice or benefit.

That still goes back and forth ~ one day Thais are Asians, the next day they aren't.

Indonesia and Malaysia are frequently overlooked in all this because there have not yet been any large numbers of immigrants from either country. Still, they have decided they speak the same basic root language as the Philippines ~ to wit, Tagalog, so you get a dictionary, figure out how to concatenant words and do pidgin English with Bhassa words. Lots of fun to do at parties.

A very large subgroup in that part of the world are the overseas Chinese group who speak Hokien with a 30% Dutch based vocabulary. They are probably the wealthiest people on Earth, per capita, and have almost no political influence outside of what they can buy, and they can buy a lot. Soros ain't no thang compared to these guys!

Asians, Blacks, Mexicans and other Latins are Third World with a great resentment of white Western Civilization. Members of the Third World sense that the members of Western Civilization no longer have the capacity to resist the ongoing Third World invasion. Open violence against, looting and raping white Americans is now a function of Third World forbearance.

Nonsensical reasoning, especially pertaining to Asians. Like the (white) Jews, Asians see the Republican Party as a "Christian" party above anything else, and that's why both groups go with the "secular" Democrats.

The other reason, of course, is that like Jews, most Asians (Chinese, Japanese and Indians especially) have college degrees, and the campus association / myth of the Democrats as a pro-higher education party holds strong.

I do have a problem with multiples....Thanks.... I also capitalize-—but I do it because I am so wordy that it breaks up all the paragraphs somewhat. I don’t mean it to be LOUD—but want to put some emphasis on words. It is hard to do when typing without some signal in there that people can pick up easily.

I am mostly laughing when I type everything—well, at least smiling-—most of what I type can be outrageous (not to me, but to others)—and I truly find humor in it. These things used to be shocking to me originally but I can now talk about everything rationally, now.

BUT, I am deadly serious about hating evil and hating anyone who tries to corrupt the innocence of a child.

But angry??? No one that I know would ever classify me as an angry person. No one. Ever. I am classified as a Goldie Hawn-type.-—my entire life. People are shocked by my views—cause they assume I know nothing because of my blond looks. It is so fun to see the shocked faces on people who don’t know me. I do find like-thinkers—all the time, though. Then, I am the one surprised! Makes life so fun!!! Love Knowledge and talking to people who understand the world. I can direct others to research topics they have never even considered.....it is fun!

Illegal immigrants have found they want to come here and consume everything possible that is given to them by liberals. Once they are finished, they will move to the next country (maybe Canada) and start the process over.

Take a look at major cities and you will see this same thing happen with
communities. Non minority population prospers, leaves, minority moves in and destroys .

My former Philadelphia neighborhood is a prime example of this.
