On Tuesday night’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” on the Fox News Channel, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said that major news networks might have secret emails proving that the White House canceled plans to assist the besieged U.S. Embassy in Benghazi.

Gingrich said that the bombshell emails could be revealed within the next two days.

“There is a rumor — I want to be clear, it’s a rumor — that at least two networks have emails from the National Security Adviser’s office telling a counterterrorism group to stand down,” Gingrich said. “But they were a group in real-time trying to mobilize marines and C-130s and the fighter aircraft, and they were told explicitly by the White House stand down and do nothing. This is not a terrorist action

It’s possible, just possible, that some of the news media wants to remain relevant or at least interesting enough to collect a paycheck, and that somebody from these sources has been inquiring, hoping to scoop Fox.

Something else we mustn’t forget is that Obama has treated the press like dirt, despite their great love for him. He has not let them travel with him, he doesn’t give open press conferences and in fact didn’t give any press conferences at all for years, and has excluded them and even insulted and belittled individual members of the press.

Maybe his hubris will get him yet.

I think Newt is being "fairly" clever here.

By saying "two" networks may have emails, he is putting pressure on whoever has the email to not get out-scooped. There may only be one network that has it, but now he's got them wondering. Being first will get all the attention, second... not so much.

Also, by saying he thinks it will come out in a couple of days, he is applying additional pressure. This will be huge for whoever gets it out there first. They are less likely to hang on to it until after the election if they think a competitor is about to spring the bombshell - and if they hang on to it and release it after the election, they will be criticized for sitting on it for so long.

Perhaps some in the MSM will this as the tipping point in their support of 0. If they think he is going to lose anyway they may use exposing the cover up as an attempt to try and salvage what is left of their reputation.

Libs look for political cover when they make decisions. So the excuse of “citizens demonstrating” was used as political cover for the administration to HAVE NOT intervened.

If those networks are NBC, ABC, or MSNBC, they might as well be encrypted and stored in a safe that is plunged into an ocean trench.

If it is CBS or CNN, skip the part about the ocean trench, but keep the safe and the encryption.

Very strange comment. What would it have mattered if it was ‘terrorist’ or not??? Our consulate/CIA safe house was still being attacked!! This sounds like a cop out if I ever heard one and possibly a developing excuse the WH thinks is going to work. In other words..they think this is going to absolve them from the video masquerade and lies they have told. I can hear it now....’See..this proves that we thought it was not terrorist related...blah..blah...blah...and by the way we are not arming ‘terrorists’.’

Shouldn’t we indeed shoot back first and ask questions later when people are storming our embassies and killing our ambassador?
