The latest rumor making the rounds is that Barack Obama replaced General Carter Ham at Africom after the general made a move to help the US security officials at the Benghazi consulate and annex. Ham was replaced by Gen. David Rodriquez on October 18. Tiger Droppings reported:
The information I heard today was that General [Carter] Ham as head of Africom received the same e-mails the White House received requesting help/support as the attack was taking place. General Ham immediately had a rapid response unit ready and communicated to the Pentagon that he had a unit ready.
General Ham then received the order to stand down. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow. Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command.
The story continues that now General Rodiguez would take General Ham’s place as the head of Africom.
Sure enough Obama nominated Gen. David Rodriguez to replace Gen. Carter Ham as commander of U.S. Africa Command.

Okay...I have a stupid question. I have thought and thought..read and read...but I still don’t get it.
Why would Obama and his administration do this? I know we are all angry...shocked..mystified...and heartbroken.
But why? I’ve listened to Rush...I’ve read and read...but I can’t figure out why?
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t doubt for one minute that the President didn’t want to do it. Can anyone explain why?
I don’t feel like this was just a “screw-up”...seems to me this was very calculated given the hours that went by.

Agree with what you stated Shirley. I think this is more than what you wrote above. I do agree that Stevens knew too much and had to be silenced. Could be he had voiced his intention to someone about exposing Obama. A scenario detailing the take over of the consulate was pitched to Stevens by WH, reason, consulate taken over by extremists, then Obama rides in and “Negotiates” with terrorists to release the consulate hostages (Iran 79), so he can get lots of positive press for free. But, the terrorists contracted to do the deed double crossed WH, (Oh, the Libyan forces who were supposed to protect consulate in effect disappeared during attack), since they found out the consulate was the source of munitions being funnelled to Syria through Turkey. The attackers then decided to get the munitions and went on a killing spree. The CIA annex was told to stand down....hmmm.....why? Well that’s easy to answer, since this was all planned the WH knew what the supposed outcome was going to be, that’s why the WH never seemed surprised and called emergency press briefing’s. The U.S. Embassy in Cairo was part of the cover up story, they had their contracted protestors ready to go. All the protestor’s were waiting for was the go signal, yes, the tweet’s apologizing for a anti Allah video. How quaint, the WH & everyone flat out admitted they were the source of the video, how, well by constantly denying and denouncing the video. Then taking the alleged film maker into custody. I must say, they really thought they covered their tracks, but, Woods & Doherty changed the dynamics. Oh, Stevens was going to be terminated either way.....
Something I read today....very plausible.
I heard on Michael Savage’s broadcast Friday that there was a laser targeting terrorist mortar attackers. Even then, no permission was given to take out the mortar attackers. Here is a description from Savage’s website:
“At that point, they called again for military support and help because they were taking fire at the CIA safe house, or annex. The request was denied. There were no communications problems at the annex, according those present at the compound. The team was in constant radio contact with their headquarters. In fact, at least one member of the team was on the roof of the annex manning a heavy machine gun when mortars were fired at the CIA compound. The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Spectre gunship, which is commonly used by U.S. Special Operations forces to provide support to Special Operations teams on the ground involved in intense firefights.”

If true, I salute him. He did the right thing. When the commander in chief is insane, you have to do what is right. that his next-in-line, Rodriguez, was all too eager to NOT do the right thing is disturbing.
If this is true, everyone under his command now knows what a piece of sh!t he is.
There is a MUTINY GOING ON NOW. OBAMA IS TRYING TO KEEP IT DOWN AND REPLACING 2 GENERALS AND 1 ADMIRAL THUS FAR.

There was a drone overhead ‘within an hour’. But the nearest drone-base (in Sigonella) was three hours drone-flight away.

As in the Clinton years, General Ham has already heard from some faceless nobody about all the unexpected things that can happen to his pension if he says the wrong things. And all the speaking gigs, and consulting work that he'll miss out on.
A lot of officers resigned during Clinton's years, only to find out that their dearly-bought freedom of speech only got them the stone wall of silence in the world of politics.
