State Dept: Texas can’t arrest international election observers
Washington Examiner ^ | October 26, 2012 | Joel Gehrke

International election observers planning to visit Texas polling places have “full immunity” from being arrested in the United States, the State Department said when discussing a letter from the Texas Attorney General.

“I’m not going to get into any kind of hypothetical situations or predict where this is going to go other than to say we have every expectation that this will be worked out and to state the fact, which is that under U.S. law they are eligible for immunities,” said State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland. Reporters tried to get her to state explicitly that Texas could not arrest election observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), but Nuland would only reiterate that OSCE observers have full immunity.

Attorney General Greg Abbott, R-Texas, warned OSCE that it “may be a criminal offense for OSCE’s representatives to maintain a presence within 100 feet of a polling place’s entrance,” as The Hill noted.

I read that they were going to be in Austin. That is funny because I live in Austin and it is pretty left. I guess they can hang around 100 feet from the polling site which is the law. I’m not sure what they will observe from outside though :)
Since I already voted I’ll just drive around and try to observe these “observers” then I can speed dial my buddy Gregg Abbott, the AG, and let him know that they got too close.... :) A girl needs to have some fun

What makes the gutless commies at the State Department think that they can set the rules? These pigs already murdered an ambassador and two Navy SEALS. If their precious UN pigs are hog-tied and thrown in jail, what will they do?

Nothing, that’s what.

Tarred, feathered, bound, gagged, and put on Amtrack back to DC to Victoria’s office. That is the way TX handles diplomatic immunity UN wastrels who violate TX voting laws.

Victoria probably thinks Fast and Furious had diplomatic immunity too since Hillary and Holder and Big Sis were calling the shots.

These idiots send Fed Troops to Texas voting stations and it won’t be the Rangers they will need to worry about.

THIS IS A PROBLEM???? .... N-O-T !!!

Just go to Sheila Jackson Leeroy's district and flash a little dope around to entice a bunch of dudes to be 'poll watchers' for the day. Give them a couple of dime bags, black berets, combat boots, military fatigues and night sticks, and say, "those U.N. guys are going to shut down every KFC in Texas tonight".

Nothing wrong with that, as Eric Holder has already said it's not illegal for guys like that to be 'watching the polls'.

Problem solved......

Don’t states set up the rules that govern the election process within their borders?

What actual right does the federal government have to intervene, absent some basis to ground it on? And since when does the federal government have the right to send in foreign nationals to disturb our process?

This is just idiotic thinking from the get go.

Can someone please tell me when we relinquished our sovereignty? I’d like to see the document where we agreed to place the U. N. over our elected officials at any level.

It’s time to kick that bastard organization off our soil. we get no respect. Screw em.

Did George Bush invite the organization in? If so, that alone makes him one of our worst presidents.

“There here at the request of a bunch of left-wing organizations..... The case in point is OSCE’s coordination with Project Vote, an overtly partisan organization that was founded by and closely affiliated with ACORN.”

Thank a lot. That’s all I have to know.

Texas could respond: "We will let the lawyers and judges sort it out at arraignment the following day".

Adding: "Meanwhile, anybody who beats the crap out of UN officials has full immunity from arrest by us".

If these “monitors” issue *any* kind of complaint on election day or later Baraq’s lawyers will file suit demanding that the state's EVs be tossed out because of “obvious, massive vote fraud”.

Why would they even bother being in Texas?

Because they can. Because is another intmidation tactic. Because we're picking up speed travelling down that slippery slope. Because no one has the guts to put a complete and total stop to this ridiculousness.

I agree. I hate to be pessimistic, but if push comes to shove and a confrontation arises at some voting precinct, the standard rigor de course is that a phone call will be made to some liberal activist judge (appointed by Repub or DemoRAT, doesn't make any difference) and in 10 min the judge will issue an injunction against Texas and any official, LE or whatever, who dares to impede the commie pig observers. And Texas will back down, just like AZ backed down on their illegal immigration laws, and just like any other state or state officials will back down.

The reality is that we really REALLY need states & state officials to literally tell the Fed gubmint AND the courts (especially the federal courts) to go to hell. And if the courts & fed gubmint persist, then the states need to start arresting & detaining the feds & fed judges in their states. At which time it will be time for states to officially secede from the union, since the feds will never remain silent or inactive if their officials are being arrested & detained. All hell will break loose, and perhaps that is what we need in this country now.

Exactly. They may not be able to arrest and prosecute them, but they can take them into temporary custody and hold them until after voting hours.

Or just tazed and given a beating if they refuse to go away.

But it seems the Romney win is likely to be by a substantial margin.

Let’s play “TEXAS HOLD’EM”.

Hold these UN smucks for 24 hours and then let them go, in the middle of the desert.
