One of the unanswered questions about the terrorist attack on our consulate in Benghazi is why the US military didn’t intervene. Rumors had swirled that the US asked the Libyan government in Tripoli for permission to fly into Benghazi to break up the attack but had been refused, although no one has claimed that on the record. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta put that rumor to rest yesterday by telling reporters that the US never planned to intervene at all, thanks to a lack of intel on the ground:
US military leaders ruled out sending in forces during the attack on an American consulate in Libya last month because of a lack of reliable intelligence, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Thursday.
Although forces were on alert and ready to launch an operation if needed, the US military commander for Africa, General Carter Ham, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, and Panetta all decided against any intervention as they had no clear picture of events unfolding in Benghazi, he said.
“There’s a basic principle here, and the basic principle is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on, without having some real-time information about what’s taking place,” Panetta told a news conference.
“And as a result of not having that kind of information, the commander who’s …in that area, General Ham, General Dempsey and I felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation.”

Why on this earth would anyone believe a man that spent most of the latter half of the 1990s going around the MSM talk circuit defending Clinton and arguing that the a blow job did not rise to the level of an “impeachable offense”.
This country, ALL of us, should be ashamed that this man is in control of our Defense Department. It is an absolute travesty.

Even if that were true, and I don’t believe it for a second, WHOSE FAULT was it that there was no clear picture of events? That’s like 911 getting multiple phone calls for help for a heart attack including the address, etc. and then claiming there was no clear call to 911.
I’d like to say something here that we don’t see said enough.
For years we have tried to tell the left that we don’t want them in charge of our military. We have explained why until we’re blue in the face.
Okay Lefties, take a good hard look.
This is precisely what we have been saying would happen sooner or later.
And the next time we defend redundancy in our military, please step out of the way and accept that you don’t know up from down with it comes to issues like this.
We have had Carter, Clinton, and now Obama.
Carter destabilized Iran and tossed the M/E into turmoil.
Clinton blew two chances to get OBL.
And now this with Obama.

They lacked the Intel to attack even though they were watching it in real time YET they had enough Intel to blame it all on an anti-Islam You Tube clip.
C’mon. Intel is perfect when you want to fabricate a lie, but it’s imperfect when you don’t want to act on it.

The IR picture from the drone flying five miles out was not enough.
Not providing backup is bad, but can be spun as "fog of war". Telling the boots already on the ground to sit and watch is entirely different.
Panetta lacks intelligence....as in basic intelligence.
He is a tool of the party.
Planned murder or hostage taking.
Why else do you tell them to stand down?
