My guess is that the CIA had discovered that some of the 20,000 Libyan Missiles were found in the possession of Ansar al-Sharia, or al-Qaeda who were then shipping them to Syria, and Obama knew all about it.

Or maybe someone on high did not want their entire operation blown by someone running into an ambush. So the someone on high determined to let the people at the consulate die or be taken hostage. The ex SEALS who died knowingly ran into the fire and blew their cover and that of everyone else at the safe house. They knew the protocol. Does anyone read spy novels or watch spy shows?
Someone on high is charged with determining whether to protect the country versus protecting some guys who want to save the world. Now is the administration’s policy good for the country? That is a debate we should be having.
Don’t they teach spies that when the poop hits the fan, you’re on your own? It isn’t like the military. So you had better have a way out provided by yourself before you run into a fire. If the ambassador had not been involved in this episode, I don’t think we would have heard about any of this.
I think the video WAS shown in Egypt by Egyptians trying to stir up trouble on the 11th. (There was a planned demonstration, I believe, planned for that day, prior to any video airing in Egypt.)
The problem is, is that the administration, the CIA, the military, or ????, tried to say what happened in Libya was because of that video. It WAS a good diversion since a lot of people had seen what happened at the Egyptian Embassy. At best, it was wishful thinking on “whoever’s” part that the video had anything to do with Libya.
