Americans have a clear choice between two presidential candidates with starkly different ideas for spurring the economy, providing for the health of our people, defending our interests abroad, educating our children and protecting our environment. We believe that President Barack Obamas progress on these issues merits him a second term in the White House.
Four years ago on this page, we endorsed Republican U.S. Sen. John McCain of Arizona over Obama. We wrote that we were impressed with Obama, but McCain would bring the Iraq war to a successful conclusion, work to end American dependence on foreign oil, reduce America's output of climate-changing gases and begin the rebuilding of our economy.
The Democratic president has done all those things and more. He is calm under pressure and courageous in standing up for the rights of all Americans, including the poor, veterans, the elderly, women, gays and immigrants. In contrast, weve sometimes found it hard in the last few weeks to tell just what Obamas challenger, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, really stands for.
Obama has a keen vision that he has worked hard to achieve, against considerable obstacles and often courageously. But the goal is in sight: An America respected worldwide as much for its prosperity as its defense of liberty and justice.
The Journal editorial board endorses Barack Obama for president.

Great satire piece.
You will see something similar from the Charlotte Observer. NC will go back to red.
I agree with you. I believe that Romney will win, and one of the biggest losers on Nov 6 will be the left wing media. Even the sheeple now know that they are completely biased, and in the tank for Dear Leader and the Democrats. They have sacrificed their credibility on the altar of ideology, and in so doing have lost the trust of the American public. Even if the Kenyan Caliph wins, the public has stopped trusting the left wing media. They are no better than Pravda in the old USSR, and everyone knows it. This election will break the back of the left wing media.
The comments underneath are just as delusional. Some examples:
“Whatever you claim to see, the facts are undeniable here - the country is far more prosperous than it was 4 years ago by almost any measure. Since Obama’s policies kicked in, the stock market is way up; the unemployment rate is consistently shrinking; taxes have been lowered on small businesses and the middle and working classes. These are simply objective, quantifiable facts. “
“Fast and furious was started under the Bush Administration”

“Regarding government spending - spending levels have been cut to their lowest levels in decades under this administration.”
They knew McCain couldn’t win. They’re scared of Romney.
“Look at how bipartisan we are! We endorsed a Republican when we knew he was going to lose.”
Pay them back for their duplicity by electing every Republican in every race. Then, see their bipartisanship on the day after the election.
Very close to my thought: wonder what they had with which to blackmail them?
Well, I guess the saying is true: You just can’t fix stupid.
Sounds fun...I think I'll start my own FU List...hope my computer has space enough for all that I put down....
Ah yes, my hometown paper speaks. And this is why I don’t subscribe anymore.
What a pantload.
Of the reasons cited:
Providing for the health of our people.....NOT in the U.S. Constitution
Defending our interests abroad....kissing asses, bowing, and relegating America to a non-dominant/Leading Nation is what he's done.
Educating our children.....NOT in the U.S. Constitution, and all that's done is INDOCTRINATION, not Education, as demonstrated by scores and comparisons to educations in other countries.
Protecting the Environment.....NOT in the U.S. Constitution.
These "accomplishments", including destroying the economomy and SPENDING the income of future generations, due to handouts to cronies, Unions, donors, and the non-productive parasites who infect our country (INCLUDING NON-U.S. CITIZENS) is a good reason to have a Trial for Treason and Derelection of Duty.
Wrong!!!!!
Obama has a keen vision that he has worked hard to achieve, against considerable obstacles and often courageously. But the goal is in sight: prosperity is just around the corner, with pot in every bong, and a Commissar in every position of power.
They actually wrote this with a straight face?
from Wikipedia re: Winston-Salem Journal:
- owned by Bershire Hathaway, which is controlled by Warren Buffett
- “its conservative readership often decries its liberal bias and its liberal readers point out that the Journal hasn’t endorsed a Democratic Party presidential candidate since Lyndon Johnson in 1964. In 2004, the paper refused to endorse a presidential candidate. [1] The paper has endorsed Democratic President Barack Obama for 2012 even though it endorsed Obama’s opponent Republican Senator John McCain in 2008.”
- just like the rest of the printed newspaper industry, this paper has seen changes in its number of employees and was even sold to its current owner in 2012. Under Obama’s administration their company saw decreasing number of employees and revenues.
Can’t understand their logic in supporting the man/administration that is driving their busineses (and everyone else’s)into the ground—’cept that Warren Buffett has been drinking Obama’s koolaid and perhaps that has caused their loss of clear vision on the right candidate to back in the upcoming election.
Stoned faced....
In the 1940’s and 1950’s the Journal was a highly respected paper. It was locally owned and respected nationally its quality. It was purchased by Media General and is today owned by Berkshire Hathaway. Like many chain local newspapers much of the news copy comes from wire service articles. Cutbacks in the local staff have decimated the quality and quantity of its content. It is a pathetic shadow of its former self and continues to decline in circulation and quality. Like most national chain newspapers it has a liberal editorial point of view. Endorsement of Obama is not a surprise, not that it matters.
