Susquehanna Poll: Obama 47, Romney 45 (Pennsylvania)
Politics PA ^ | 10/08/2012 | Keegan Gibson

Barack Obama leads Mitt Romney by a 2 point margin, identical to his lead in late September according to Susquehanna Polling and Research. But the Republican’s debate performance contributed to a 6 point jump in his favorability rating.

In a poll conducted just after the first presidential debate, from Oct. 4 to 6, 47 percent of respondents said they support Obama; 45 percent support Romney. 3 percent support Libertarian Gary Johnson.

The Obama-Romney head-to-head numbers are identical the most recent Susquehanna Polling and Research survey released on Sept. 23. The margin of that poll, commissioned by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review closely resemble that of another SP&R survey conducted for the Pa. Republican party which showed Obama at a 48 percent to 47 advantage.

When the undecided voters leaning towards a candidate are factored in (breaking 3:1 for Romney), the race narrows to a 1-point Obama lead, 47 percent to 46.

r-34 D-38 I-26. Is this a good sample?

I am not too sure of that sample. Rat registration is close to 50% in PA. There is only about 6 to 8% independent registration. The race in PA all boils down to turnout ... Depressed turnout in Philadlephia with Delaware, Bucks and Montgomery counties voting for Romney by a big margin to offset the hood vote in Philadelphia. The mid-state looks good for Romney. While not scientific, I took a long drive on Friday, and I saw zero Obama yard signs and bumper stickers. I drove from Mechanicsburg to E-town to Lebanon to Hamburg and back home to Mechanicsburg via interstates.

The race is as hot and tight as a too small bathing suit on a too long car ride back from the beach.

Do they have Obamaphones in PA?

Yep, we not only have them, W PA was the test bed for the "free, obama phone".

Makes me want to perform illegal acts on some politicians.

We still have a shot at PA but if the Voter ID law had been upheld, we would have walked away with it, now, it is iffy.

I'm a poll watcher, and the Voter ID would really have given us great leverage, now, it's just our presence at the polls that will hold down some of the most blatant fraud.

Even without voter ID, poll watchers do make a difference, especially those of us that go into the "hood" as the brothers and sisters really loves us white folk heppen' them vote.

I never go in "nekked".

Big time Reagan Democrat transformation is in process as I type.

And why? Because most of them really do love America and see the threat to it from the filth that are in power now.

And this time you cannot judge by the relative number of Obama vs Romney yard signs and bumper stickers because Romney supporters are afraid of vandalism.

You have to judge by the low number of Obama signs and stickers alone.

Aren’t the folk there pretty TICKED OFF about the gas prices?? Does R&R have a slight chance with the horrific gas prices shooting through the roof there? Any outrage? STEAMING outrage??

D +6 as Martin O'Malley continues to chase them over the Mason-Dixon line with tax hikes.

Well there was a large tea party gathering yesterday in Westwood, it was really nice to see..people ARE ticked off about the gas prices, just like they were ticked off about missing appointments and having to wait on the freeway for an hour for your majesty to get through but those same people will vote for Obama anyway. Maybe if enough people connected the dots about how Obama’s policies are responsible for the raising gas prices maybe, just maybe some people would wake up..but the media here keeps on blaming the refinery fires up north and a system malfunction at a refinery in Torrance, no one even brings up Obama wanting prices to skyrocket

Ah, the Pennsylvania tease. I sure hope this poll is accurate, but Pennsylvania to Republican presidential candidates is Lucy with the football. I’d rather see Romney spend his cash in Ohio, Virginia and Florida. if Pa. is this close, then he’ll easily win those three states, and be the next president.

This could be a feign by Team Obama, they did it in 2008. Get Romney and Ryan to start spending money and time here. Obama needs PA, Romney does not. It’s almost a certainty now that Obama will lose Ohio, Va, NC, Mo, Colorado, Florida , Indiana. The race is over folks with those states, Romney should not waste one dime here. The T section of Pa solid R but here in Western Pa it’s filled with the worst of the worst urban black vampire culture, white trash wiggers(Yinzers as we call them), union thugs and professional college students and intellectuals, Dem staples. R&R move on, nothing to see here. Go win Florida and win.

Yup....PA is a waste of time & money for the GOP. It’s the same old same old every 4 years there. it’s best to keep putting money into Nevada, Colorado & Iowa if we are trying to pull in a purple state.

I live in Yellow Dog Country in PA and am used to having them in my face crowing all day about how Bob Casey or Ed Rendell is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I hear NOTHING from them right now. I mean, absolute crickets. And a very large number of these “End the War on Coal” signs has sprung up. I think we may be about to experience an outbreak of Reagan Democrat Syndrome around here.

You've also got the 'bitter clingers' there... PA might get interesting.
