'A 25-year-old British man who was working as a football coach in the US has been stabbed to death in New York.
Mike Jones, originally of Tarleton, Lancashire, was attacked in Manhattan in the early hours of Sunday, the New York Police Department (NYPD) said.
Mr Jones, who coached the New York Red Bulls juniors, was declared dead on arrival at Bellevue Hospital, New York.'

Interesting ... he might have been attacked for personal reasons, rather than randomly.
Statistically, compared to other cities..like, say..Chicago...NYC’s murder rate is among the lowest...as is all violent crimes. Yes, there are parts of the city that aren’t safe for “outsiders” and if you’re out and about at 4AM...even in a good neighborhood...it’s dicey..but the security tape appears to show him walking away with his assailant...IOW..he KNEW the perp..and that’s a whole nother story..

I must have missed that part of the story."Walking" with the perp doesn't necessarily mean he knew him although it certainly could.I've had strangers start walking beside me in midtown Manhattan,in daylight,asking me for money and not taking "no" for an answer.If they *were* acquainted that certainly would change things.

You may have seen this story in the spring. There was a young man visiting Baltimore from somewhere in Virginia for St. Patrick’s Day. I don’t know if he was actually staying in the area where he wound up being beaten up and robbed.
Someone put it on YouTube as if it was something to be proud of. It seemed as if beating him and humiliating him was the primary motive for the attack with the robbery coming second. The first hit was a sucker punch that knocked him to the concrete so hard, I am just amazed that he did not die or suffer permanent brain damage. You could actually hear his head hit. It was truly sickening. And the gang of brave, tough guys found it all so amusing.
Prayers up for this deceased coach and his loved ones.
