Mitt Romney in a major speech Monday will call for a change of course in U.S. foreign policy -- saying the recent, deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya is part of a profound upheaval and that hope is not a strategy.
The speech will mark one of Romneys final opportunities before Election Day to show his potential as a world leader -- amid political turmoil in the Middle East.
The attacks on America last month should not be seen as random acts. They are expressions of a larger struggle that is playing out across the broader Middle East -- a region that is now in the midst of the most profound upheaval in a century, Romney will say, according to speech excerpts provided by the Republican presidential nominees campaign.
I know the president hopes for a safer, freer, and a more prosperous Middle East allied with the United States. I share this hope, Romney continues. But hope is not a strategy. We cannot support our friends and defeat our enemies in the Middle East when our words are not backed up by deeds.
Romney is set to speak at Virginia Military Institute at 11:20 a.m. ET.

If he changes that to 15 air carriers a year I'll vote twice for him and talk all my friends to vote twice also. :)
Some of it is pie in the sky..for example..Egypt is lost....
"Did I mention I killed Osama bin Laden?"
“I will affirm that my duty is not to advance my political prospects but the security of America”
Agree.
Here’s the full text of speech..
Love how he keeps repeating how Obama “failed” and his “failures.”
“Americas security can not afford 4 more years like the last 4”
Giving someone enough rope to hang themselves often works. Stay our of the way when your enemy is dropping, which zippy of course IS dropping.
BUT the speech has to be given sometime and now is a good time. I do hear you on giving zippy info and insight, but THIS is a powerful speech.
Pray for this country!
The question is whether Romney connects the dots and indicts the entirety of the failed Obama foreign policy - and that it compounds our economic problems at home.
....no flexibility with Putin......
I wonder if that “transmission” made it to Vladamir?
I really LOVE the way this man is articulating “America”...
He may just have what it takes.
He just mentioned Winston Churchill...will he say.."When I'm sworn in, I'll bring the bust of Churchill back.."
Perfect segue into the Rush Limbaugh Show......
The closing was particularly powerful. A superb speech!
Yes, his tone is sincere and presidential
Agree. He is talking with us, not too us.
No fake accent, hype, just sincerity and conviction.
Great set up for his/Ryans future debates on the topic.
Crowd applause sustained, and real on C- Span feed.
Why are the USSS rushing to “protect” him from the cadets?
That was clearly a president speaking, and not a narcissistic punk.
Actually, there were teleprompters.
I just noticed one as he exited from the podium.
Great foreign policy speech Mittens!
