COOS BAY, OR (KPTV) -
An Oregon man trying to feed his 700-pound hogs was eaten by the animals Thursday, and sheriff's deputies are trying to determine what led up to his death.
Terry Garner, who lived near the rural town of Riverton in southern Oregon, went to feed the animals on his farm at 7:30 a.m.
When he wasn't seen for several hours, a family member went to look for him, and found Garner's dentures on the ground in front of the hog enclosure, which housed several of the animals.
While searching the hog enclosure, the family member found Garner's body in several pieces, with a majority of it consumed by the hogs, the district attorney said.
Now deputies are investigating how Garner ended up in a position where the hogs were able to eat him.
District Attorney Paul Frasier said there are a number of possible scenarios, including one in which Garner suffered a heart attack. Another possible scenario is that given Garner's age and health, the hogs were able to knock him down and kill him. Frasier said there have been reports that at least one of the hogs had been aggressive toward Garner in the past.
Because of the unusual circumstances surrounding Garner's death, detectives haven't ruled out foul play.
A forensic pathologist examined what little was left of Garner's body over the weekend, but was not able to identify the cause or manner of death.
For now, Garner's cause of death is listed as undetermined, and his remains will be further examined by a forensic anthropologist at the University of Oregon.
wild boar will do the same -
They are called hogs...
and people ask why I have pet rabbits - rabbits only eat your soul
Some days you eat the pig, and some days...
Hey, quit hogging all the farmer.
I’ve heard tell of farmers feeding parts of dead hogs to their other hogs. Apparently, they’ll eat anything...kinda like a typical Democrat voter -——as long as it’s free, or there is a government check involved....
My grandfather warned me about the hogs. They are quick and can be vicious, especially a sow with piglets. I just don't think he had any 700 pounders. Are they artificially growth hormoning and creating monsters?
I’m ashamed to say it, but I thought this article was going to be about Michael Moore and/or Rosie O’Donnell.
God Rest this poor man’s soul and God Bless his family.
Tonight on American Hoggers...
Don’t worry about it. They’re brothers anyway.
???
I wouldnt go near a 700 lb hog.
Nope, Hannibal had man-eating hogs, no need for King.
BOY! what a bunch of pigs!
There was a guy in Canada killing people and letting his hogs eat the victim....If you watch Criminal Minds, they also had a simular story line. A while back there was an article on FR about the murders in Canada, a canadian freeper gave some info. on it..
Knew a guy that threw a pig’s liver in a pen with a piglet. Next morning, piglet was feet to the sky.
All I can say is what I heered...can’t say it wuz right...
Cause of Death will read: “Went to sh-t and the hogs ate him.”
That poor old fellow likely had a very painful and horrifying death.
Well..it did eat it. Don’t know if pigs store fat soluble vitamins in their livers. Don’t think pork liver is widely marketed.
One of my favorite childhood memories is our whole family taking off for a week at the end of August every year to spend time at my Grandparent’s farm about 20 mi. from Des Moines, and about 350 miles from us, north of Chicago.
My grandfather would , for pennies, buy tinfoil trays of moldy sweet rolls, and he’d let me throw this crap into a 55 gallon drum hooked up to a tube feeding into a trough made I think out of an old corroded Yankee gutter, or something with that shape, which is where the hogs would collect and drink away. I used to like stirring the slop in this 55 gallon drum with a big stick, and the smell still lingers in my nostrils of just how malodorous this brew was.
BTW, horrible story!
