PARSIPPANY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) Students at Parsippany Hills High School held a strategy session on Thursday to discuss a potential lunch strike, on Friday, over what they have called inadequately sized meals.
This year youre eating lunch and youre like Did I even eat? Youre not even full, senior Brandon Faris told CBS 2′s Derricke Dennis.
New federal guidelines stemming from first lady Michelle Obamas Lets Move campaign have resulted in limits on protein and bread, and an increase in vegetables and fruits. The changes have also come at an increased cost.
All of it has also sparked a student campaign that has included online parody videos of students falling sleep in class and performing sluggishly in sports.
They hope to further their efforts with a cafeteria boycott that will cost the school money, and students like Faris said they want to know why they are paying the price for other peoples problems.
If somebodys obese why should someone like me whos not obese have to suffer, and eat a small meal when Id rather have a bigger meal? he said.

You will eat what the Dear Leader has planned for you ....and like it.
Clearly these children are in need of little re-education.......camps
In our Obama new world order in Amerika everybody is equally...hungry
If the kids are that hungry, I am questioning if they are really getting 850 calorie lunches.
Im betting those 850 calorie lunches are no more than 500 calories.
If I were a parent in one of these school systems, I would have my kid take one of those lunches out of the school and take it to a dietitian or nutritionist and see what those lunches are really made of and get documented proof of the inadequacies.
Then sue for freedom.
The Khmer Rouge used this diet to prevent over a million Cambodians from getting fat.
They’re all dead, but at least they were spared the indignity of muffin-tops, “moobs” (man-boobs), and diabetes...
Good for them. However, I bet when they reach 18, most of them will still vote demo-rat because all of their friends do it.

I think at least a few will become budding entrepreneurs. My daughter had a nearly 12 hour school day one year. As a pediatric nurse, having studied nutrition, I packed her lunch with enough food for a healthy lunch and 3 snacks. I later found she bartered away to the highest bidder. What came home with her? Usually the “healthy” chips or crackers and mini candy bar. The chips/ crackers and candy bars got recycled so many times! I guess she knew they’d be there if she ever wanted them. I couldn’t believe my daughter didn’t eat the mini candy bars. Her response was- Meh. Basic psychology- tell someone they can’t have something and they’ll want it all the more.
If schools, parents, and students really want to change this Moochelle School Lunch nonsense...besides voting for Mitt Romney in November.....Stop buying school lunch....stop getting free and reduced lunch...and bring your own.
So much of Federal (and state) school aid is based on how many are signed up for School Lunch Program. When schools start losing money because of declining lunch program involvement...they will drug Moochelle Lunch rules and provide students a real lunch
These kids need to watch themselves. They’ll likely have a swat team of some lettered agency after them to shut this down before it gets going. Can’t offend the flotus.

Don’t count on it; many of these kids are the children (and now grandchildren) of those who fled Newark when the orcs started running amuck. NJ is very segregated, and the suburbs are tired of being taxed to death to feed the subsequent generations of orcs.
Whatever people think of Governor Christie, he is a fiscal conservative that spelled the end “business as usual” in the cities in NJ. Our cities have laid off thousands of cops, teachers, firement, and other municipal employees because Christie put a big dent in the wealth redistribution here (via property tax caps); that is why Mayor Booker in Newark came out in support of private equity. They couldn’t convince white consumers to visit Newark, so he has to go to plan B.
Good question and will wait for Michelle the nutritional expert to reply. Never mind what the hell she is doing dictating what should be in school lunches....
Stop complaining about the cafeteria food and bring your own lunch to school, kids. In fact, a sharp, enterprising kid could make a lot of money selling "real" food to his classmates, or making a mid-day run to Burger King for several dozen Whoppers.
I say we mandate the White House and congressional cafeteria menus.
The concept of 1 1/2 to 2 ounces of protein for a strapping 18-year-old athlete boggles the mind.
