Your analysis on this catch on the last play.
Exactly. That's also what the former NFL official (for 27 years) told the ESPN announcers.
If the NFL doesn’t overturn that call our family is done with the them. They should also fine the referees. For the Seattle players to celebrate their fake win shows just how childish , immature and feminine some players are. If the Seattle team were men they would have forfeited the win to the rightfully victorious green bay squad. I guess the real men are not on that team. Shame on the Seahawks.
You are 100% absolutely correct.
These refs threw that game for Seattle.
INT Green Bay. And offensive pass interference on the Seahawks. All on the same play, all missed by the officials.
Un - bleeping believable!
You’re SO incredibly wrong. That was blatant pass interference and Tate didn’t even come close to having possession. It’s not a tie when the receiver doesn’t get the ball first. Tate NEVER had the ball. Take off the blinders.
Disagree. They had a terrible first half, and only were down 4. The Defense played incredible ball.
The offense came back in the second half, and Seattle didn’t have a first down until that last drive. Without that horrible defensive interference call, and then that final call, this game was in hand.
Seattle is a darn good team, at least on Defense. The offense is young, but has has some serious talent.
NFL refs are underpaid for the job they do and the risk they put themselves in. As you will most likely be in your 40s before you become a head ref, the health risk of getting drilled by a 250lb linebacker is very real and probably not worth the 70K per year they are making.
I think they realized they screwed up, but didn’t want to rile the home fans by overturning the call.
I went to Youtube to watch this, and I agree that Green Bay intercepted the ball. The Seahawks were very lucky tonight.
Thought it was classy for Green Bay to send 11 guys back out for the extra point. Also thought their Head Coach handled himself well at the press conference (cut off a reporter saying “I know you have to walk a fine line...” with “I’m not going to walk it. Don’t ask me about the officials.”)
Terrible call but the defender should have knocked it out of the EZ.
Thought ESPN said the posession was unreviewable or something like that.
What happened is that the ref on the end line got it right...but the other guy that signaled touchdown, didn’t really know and was simply copying the signal of the other ref. In a split second, he made the wrong decision, even though his decision was the one that counted. (and he didn’t even see the play)
Time for all of the players to call in sick...beginning Thursday.
I am surprised to find out that 70k is the high end of the refs’ salaries, which is a disgrace given their responsibility. Thanks for enlightening me.
I emailed Godell and let him know my opinion about the stand ins and the effects on the game.
Thanks for the info.
From the NFL rulebook:
“Item 5: Simultaneous Catch. If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players
retain it, the ball belongs to the passers.”
Seattle had a Super Bowl win taken from them and given to the Steelers. By the regular refs
That was not a simultaneous catch, the Green Bay defender clearly had both hands on the ball and pulled it to his chest, while Tate only had one arm on the ball.
Yep. On a side note - this game deeply offended me....do I start rioting? (I kid)
