This may be the first time in history that a President of the United States has called a terrorist attack against the country a "bump in the road." (September 23, 2012).
Transcript via The Weekly Standard:
CBS's Steve Kroft asked, Have the events that took place in the Middle East, the recent events in the Middle East given you any pause about your support for the governments that have come to power following the Arab Spring?
President Obama answered, Well, I'd said even at the time that this is going to be a rocky path. The question presumes that somehow we could have stopped this wave of change. I think it was absolutely the right thing for us to do to align ourselves with democracy, universal rights-- a notion that-- people have- to be able to-- participate-- in-- their own governance. But I was pretty certain and continue to be pretty certain that there are going to be bumps in the road because-- you know, in a lot of these places-- the one organizing principle-- has been Islam. The one part of society that hasn't been controlled completely by the government. There are strains of extremism, and anti-Americanism, and anti-Western sentiment. And you know can be tapped into by demagogues. There will probably be some times where we bump up against some of these countries and have strong disagreements, but I do think that over the long term, we are more likely to get a Middle East and North Africa that is more peaceful, more prosperous and more aligned with our interests.
Didn’t Obama use the same analogy, “bumps in the road”, in reference to our high unemployment?
The sodomy and murder of an unprotected US diplomat is a bump in the road. I don’t know what to say to that..
Gosh, do you think Big Media will give this outrage as much time as they gave Romney’s ‘47%’ comments?? I didn’t think so.
assination of an ambassador and three others, bump in the road. What’s next? Iran nukes Tel Aviv, bump in the road?
The “bumps in the road” are dead American bodies.
Ahhh, yes. That ‘bump in the road’ was the Ambassador’s body (including three other patriots) being thrown under Obama’s infamous bus.
Obama called that “noise” in the 60 Minutes interview.
He doesn’t mean “bumps in the road”-—he means a few spots
where the Red Sea didn’t exactly part as he thought it would.
Of course, Obama was parting it for the Muslims, not the people of Israel. The narrative it is incumbent on Obama to keep alive at least till the next election is that the “legal authority” in these countries, like Morsi, hahahaha, are just as at odds with the radical Jihadists as we are. That’s going to be a hard concept to make and keep persuasive.
This statement and others by this administration are just outrageous. Of course the media will just give this idiot another pass and bring up the 47% again against Mitt. The whole scenario is just bizarre.
**** *** Barack Hussein Obama!
When you have an apocalyptic worldview from a perch of Olympian detachment, and a long, long view of “History”
as he fancies he does (in common with the Radical Islamists)
coupled with total cluelessness, you can see these things as
mere “bumps in the road”. Total bloodlessness masquerading
as Intellectual Omnipotence.
He's driving, drunk on his own self importance, without a road map or intelligence briefings.
And there you have it folks. Obama considers Christopher Stevens’ abused and lifeless body a “speed bump” on the road to political power.
I could forgive this guy some of the stupid stuff he says if I thought that he was working on becoming competent or that he even gives one little (human waste) about these people or anything except himself. He needs to resign immediately or be impeached.

A senior administration official e-mailed me this evening about those criticizing the presidents remarks:
1) Its just not true that he was characterizing the attack in Benghazi the question doesnt even make mention of it. Hes speaking about broad trends.
2) Take a look at his answer what is there to disagree with? We are holding true to our values. We face entrenched strains of extremism. We will benefit from a region that is more peaceful.
3) This is clearly a rocky path the point he also makes clearly is that we have an interest in democratic transitions succeeding.
Where in the hell is the mental health profession on this guy?
Besides Dr. Lyle Rossiter, I cannot think of anyone who has ever stepped forward to discuss the psychological illness of these creeps called "democrats."
