Paul Ryan taps Ted Olson to play Biden in debate prep
By Felicia Sonmez, Saturday, September 15, 10:31 AM
The Washington Post

Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan has tapped former U.S. solicitor general Ted Olson to play the role of Vice President Biden in preparations for next month’s debate.

Olson is best known as the top Republican attorney who, along with New York attorney David Boies, led the legal battle against California’s Proposition 8, banning same-sex marriage. His first mock debate session with Ryan, a congressman from Wisconsin, came this past week.

Ryan spokesman Brendan Buck called Olson “one of the most skilled, intelligent and successful litigators in America — just the kind of opponent needed to prepare the congressman for Mr. Biden.”

“Joe Biden has been in elected office for more than 40 years,” Buck said in a statement. “There are few people in politics with more experience debating the issues than Joe Biden, so we are taking this process seriously.”

Ryan is wise not to under estimate Biden....I’m sure when he is sobered up and on his game... He can be a tough nut to crack....
Nobody becomes VP of the USA by accident....Biden may act like a fool but he isn’t one...

Biden is likely to come out swinging and using all of his experience just like Muhammad Ali did in September '78 when he took the title BACK from Leon Spinks. Many people thought Ali was past the point of being able to pull it off, but he went 15 rounds and won the decision and gave ol' Leon a boxing lesson along the way.

Paul Ryan should absolutely not underestimate Biden, you are 100 percent correct Popman.

Biden is more sad attempts at humor than substance.... Kick him in the giggles up front Ryan. Tell him to save the silly sh*t for later on Leno & Letterman...

My opinion.

He’s had a lot of experience playing a lying blowhard, so he’s got that down.

Joe Biden couldn't win a debate against the village idiot of Leipsic, Delaware. On second thought, I believe he is the village idiot of Leipsic, Delaware!

Have you heard the expression, `Half of success in life is just showing up’?
This a good example.

Where on earth did Ryan come up with the dubious former conservative pretender Ted Olsen?

Yogi Berra was unavailable.

Now why would you go and insult the great Yogi Berra like that?

He meant to say Togi Bear, since Biden is about as smart as a cartoon character.

LOL!

Ryan is definitely over prepping for what he’s actually going to face, but this is really directed at the press.

Ryan is hyper-intelligent and well-spoken and he’s facing an ignorant idiot who is so far beneath him that Ryan probably feels sorry for him.

Biden is dumb as a post and so is his boss, but the press is going to turn anything Ryan says against him. I think this is the thing that Ryan is trying to ready himself for. If Ryan destroys Biden - which he could do with both hands tied behind him - he’ll be portrayed as evil and mean to the elderly. But if he’s too polite, he’ll look weak.

It is well known that Americans are lovers of the underdog and haters of well-spoken achievers, especially those (like Ryan) from a modest background. Thus the popularity of Biden, who has been a useless political hack for most of his political life and now appears to be suffering early dementia.

I thought Bambi and Hillary were going to dump Biden but now I think they’re counting on the stupidity and elderly vote.

“Uhhhh...Ted Olson is pro-gay marriage and has kind of turned liberal...

Paul Ryan, I hope you’re not being fleeced.”

I know Barbara Olson was very conservative, but you're right about Ted.

Plus he is overrated.

Ah, the voice of reason. The way many Freepers underestimate Bidden reminds me of the left’s view of Bush’s intellect. Not to mention, if Ryan is not careful he’d be seen as Mr. Know-it-all that generate sympathy to Bidden.

Ted Olson is a MAJOR, active, committed, pro-gay-marriage activist.

This is most troubling.
