Buying the Volt is like buying a new TV from Britain to be used in America. Wrong voltage, wrong frequency.
Only totally converted socialistic countries with high fuel costs should go electric, Britain actually is a good candidate except historically anything electrical from England is crap or smoke, though they did well with radar.
yet another epic ObamaCAR fail.
The absolute best “money-maker” would be for Pres. Romney to eliminate the Energy Dept. that has been in charge of increasing the cost of energy ten-fold since its creation. Talk about a bad investment of billions of taxpayer dollars!
A few problems:
1) It won't fit three carseats for the kids.
2) I live in a condo with street parking. Am I supposed to hang 400 feet of extension cord out the window?
3) It's pricy for a small car. I could afford one, but it would hurt, and I don't see anything on the positive side of the ledger beyond the George Clooney smug effect.
It's like liberals have no idea how anyone lives day-to-day in this country. Alternative-reality based community, you might say.
Bump
The logic of today’s liberalism says that it’s patriotic to purchase a new or even a used Chevrolet Volt and if you merely wish you could afford one...well, that’s patriotic enough.
“So far, GM has sold a little more than 21,000 Volts, even with the help of a $7,500 tax credit, recent dealer discounting and U.S. government purchases. “
I see the administration just ordered 1500 Volts for the Marine Corps. That one government purchase alone is 8% of all Volts sold so far.
I read a stat in our *paper of record*, the Hartford Courant, the other day: *There are 2.1 M cars registered in our state. 95 of them are electric cars.* Heh.
So the American taxpayer funds the research and then the Russians and Chinese come in and buy the company so they don’t pay the research costs. Democrats are dumber than donuts. This is stupid that is so bad that it borders on being treason.
I pulled up behind a Volt on the way to work today. Very nice looking car. Oh well, nice on the outside with a power train no one wants.
I would love an electric car, it would be perfect for me, BUT.. the economics are just not there, sorry.
Tax Credit: $7,500
Is that one of those "middle-class tax cuts" that Obummer keeps bragging about?
http://www.redstate.com/2012/09/13/gm-is-alive-and-the-volt-is-dead/
........”One of the talking points that Obamas reelection campaign has been pushing is that Bin Laden is dead and GM is alive! Its fair to say that the success of GM is a pretty important linchpin to his reelection case.
Something that Obama has not been running on is his failed attempts to force his green dreams on an unwilling public. You wont see him selling bumper stickers about Solyndra or Fisker.
For Obama, his supposed successes and his actual failures merge into one story. Such is the case with the Chevy Volt, Obamas green initiative and GMs moonshot............
The bailout boondoggle — another venereal scar on the character of this great Country.
It features a running total of "Electric Miles Driven by Volt Owners."
I just chuckled as it reminded me of the National Debt Clock.
BTW, it was almost 80 million miles and counting.
Same people who run some of the political polls must be running that clock's total for "electric" miles driven.
