Time to create some more BS government agencies. Perhaps the Department of Treason? Department of Lesbian Puppetry? There are plenty of 99%ers with a degree in that.
Wait till they figure out how to export them. Maybe India could expand their call desk to answer income tax questions.
Hmmm... since every policy of 0bama’s has been a defacto reparations program, or paying off his cronies and supporters,
I wonder what demographic group is overrepresented amongst gov’t workers... hmmmm...

For those who remember the old Soviet Union, it was a grim place at least for average citizens. But not so for those in government. Contrary to the official ideals of equality and a classless society that the ruling communist regime espoused, the USSR created a privileged class of party members inside government the nomenklatura.
This semipermanent bureaucracy earned higher incomes, got better health care, ate better food and had greater job security than average Russians, the much-despised proletarians. Today, our bloated federal government seems, in significant ways, to be creating this same dynamic.
Really no need for half of them. The idea that teachers need helpers is ridiculous.
Message to the young people: Go and get a Government Job (as Moochelle started telling them in ‘08)
And we are the kulaks.
Except this time, exporting them to Siberia isn’t going to happen.
“Department of Lesbian Puppetry?”
The visual alone made me lose my coffee.
i saw a study maybe 10-15 years ago on the demographics of california state workers. All groups were over-represented save one, white males.
The proportion of minority workers in the federal government began to expand during Johnson’s tenure.
How is that calculated? I have worked in industry, government and public accounting. I am now unemployed. How am I classified?
Masybe we could get them to make doilies or something in their spare time. This way they will at least be making a product that could be sold. Pushing paper from one desk to another is not productive.
Wait one minute, how in the heck is a government an industry? There should always be 0% unemployment in government.
If you do not have a slot in a government role, that person is gone/fired/layed off. They do not go into a bucket of “unemplyed government worker”. They are “person without job”, period. What bull scat.
Maybe I am missing something here or maybe I am just too country to go along with just how screwed up our Feral Government really is.
I don’t really understand the concept of “public employee unemployment”.
I mean, I know we can track how many public employees were laid off. And I guess, if you kept track of them individually, you could tell me how many people who had been laid off from a public job were still unemployed.
But I think what this means is how many people are trying to GET a public job, and not getting it. And that doesn’t make sense — if I’m unemployed, I am not employed by either the public sector or private sector. How can you distinguish between the two? Or is it just that nobody wants to work in the public sector, so fewer people are trying?
Yeah but they spur the economy by buying supply’s from Staples, and Shotguns and Billions of rounds of ammo!
Huzzah Commissar Obama!
I’m confused. How do we calculate the employment rate per sector like this? What is the denominator?
(8.1% - 5.1%) / 8.1% = 37%
Nice!
Well believe it or not Fed Agencies do have reductions in force (RIFs) where Fed employees are sort of laid off but get priority consideration for job vacancies they can qualify for.
Often they will relocate to start working again another position — there should be some kind of records of how many Fed employees are RIFed at a given time and in a non-pay status.
That and also there are some Fed employees on what they call a seasonal work schedule and they can go into non-duty according to workload. So that is probably what they mean by an unemployed Fed employee.
“government worker”
an oxymoron, for the most part...
How do they measure unemployment among government workers? What self-respecting unemployed person would admit to being a government worker?
