By Mr. Curmudgeon:
Democrats meeting at their national convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, were in a bit of a pickle. Word got out that God and recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital was struck from the Democratic Party platform, and so a hasty decision was made to rectify the telling blunder.
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, chairman of the Democratic National Convention, put a motion before the convention's delegates to suspend the rules and allow an amendment to the party platform. The measure passed by a roaring voice vote.
That was the easy part.
Then former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, platform committee chairman, rose to present his amendment:
"As an ordained United Methodist minister," said Strickland, "I am here to attest and affirm that our faith and belief in God is central to the American story and informs the values we've expressed in our party's platform. In addition, President Obama recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and our party's platform should as well. Mr. Chairman, I have submitted my amendment in writing and I believe it is being projected on the screen for the delegates to see. I move adoption of the amendment as submitted and shown to the delegates."
"The matter requires a two-thirds vote in the affirmative," announced Villaraigosa, "All those delegates in favor, say aye."
With that, a sizable number of delegates roared, "Aye!"
Villaraigosa took a deep breath, "All those delegates opposed, say no."
And a sizable number of delegates roared, "No!"
"In the opinion of the ... let me do that again," announced the convention chairman. Speaking so as not to confuse the conclave's fringe elements, Villaraigosa enunciated each word, "All-of-those-delegates-in-favor-say-aye!"
Again, a roaring "Aye!"
"All-those-delegates-opposed-say-no!"
This time, he was met with a much louder "No!"
Suddenly, the convention floor was alive with murmurs and gnashing of teeth.
"I guess ..."
Villaraigosa was stunned, looking like the proverbial deer caught in the national spotlight. He turned nervously to a convention rules functionary for advice.
"You've got to rule, then you've got to let them do what they're going to do," said the barely audible woman.
Villaraigosa called for a vote yet again ... with the same disastrous result.
"In the opinion of the chair," said Villaraigosa disingenuously, "two-thirds have voted in the affirmative. The motion is adopted and the platform has been amended as shown on the screen. Thank you very much."
CNN focused its cameras on the horrified delegates whose anti-God, anti-Israel desires were thwarted for political expediency.
So, you ask, why did the convention chairman override the wishes of the majority of Democratic delegates to remove God and recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital from their platform? CBS News confirmed that "President Obama personally intervened to have the platform language changed."
"The platform is being amended to maintain consistency with the personal views expressed by the President ..." Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz told CBS.
When the president was in discussions with his Russian counterparts regarding the dismantling of America's nuclear deterrent last March, Obama didn't realize the press was listening. "This is my last election," the president told the Russians, "After my election I have more flexibility."
Obama forgot to have that same conversation with the delegates representing the best and brightest of the Democratic Party. The delegates didn't understand that wrapping themselves in the flag and expressing love of God and country and fidelity towards friends is mere camouflage designed to provide future "flexibility."
Where Progressive Democrats are concerned, it's the "after my election" part we have to worry about.

A real news media would dig out how the God and Jerusalem parts were deleted to begin with and who was responsible, but I guess that would make the Dems look even worse so, under the rug this gets swept!
A thinly veiled threat that 2012 may be our "last election".
Make it go viral!
Just like a lawyer should never ask a witness a question that he doesn’t know how the witness will answer, the Dems should never be bringing up issues that they haven’t already told their Thralls how to respond to. Rookie mistake.
They are in the open, make this video go viral!
The democrats unexpectedly show their true allegiance!
I recall Tip O’Neill pulling the same crap. Except when the decibels were against him, O’Neill called it the way he wanted it the first time.
How is it that decibels count, when some delegates have a full vote, and others have 1/17 of a vote?
OK, it’s not the decibels that count but who counts the decibels.
OK, it’s not the decibels that count but who counts the decibels.
I’ve never seen anything like this, ever.
But it amazes me that anyone would be surprised by this DNC platform stance. Obama has replaced friendly regimes in the Middle East with the rule of the Joooo and American hating radical Muslim Brotherhood. They are crucifying Christians in Egypt, for God's sake! They are threatening Israel and claiming Jerusalem will be the capital of Egypt!
If anyone is surprised by this platform, they need to buy a clue fast!
People should pay close heed...
The Democrats don't seem to want to represent the People, they want to enact their own agenda. Recognition of God, his values and his chosen people are popular issues with the public but not with the Democratic Party (especially the radical fringe). So, in typical underhanded Dem fashion, the offending language was quietly deleted from their platform. It was only when they got caught that they reinstated the language, against the wishes of their own delegates (They'll know better next time, though. New procedure will be, you have to pass it to tell what's in it).
So far it's real simple and easy to understand (we haven't got to the part that puzzles me yet). The Dems don't care what the majority of the people want, they have their own ideas to enact. They'll lie, cheat, or steal to get their agenda in place.
Now comes the part I can't fathom - why would ANYONE vote for someone they obviously can't trust?
I watched it. The “NO!” voices were louder. All three times. And the Arab guy looked like he wanted to throw a shoe!
It’ll go viral, absolutely. I’ve already sent the link on to a few people.
Who ultimately required the desperation rescue remains to be seen.
We have a Slytherin party, complete with He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Middle-Named.
And we have a Hufflepuff party. *sigh*
I don't think it's succeeding too well.
Hope you bought stock before the price skyrockets.
Thank you for the Ping!
