Democratic officials, citing weather concerns, are moving President Obama's planned nomination acceptance speech indoors -- and in doing so, choosing a significantly smaller venue that will leave out potentially thousands of Obama supporters.
The campaign is already moving to figure out what to do with those who planned to attend, and indicated Wednesday they would be invited to future Obama events, though not the main event this Thursday in Charlotte. An Obama campaign source told FoxNews.com the team is urging supporters to stay home Thursday and, instead, organize watch parties and participate in the live stream.
"We are encouraging them not to come to Charlotte," the source said.
Obama plans to speak to surely-disappointed credential holders via conference call Thursday afternoon.
The sudden change of plans, announced Wednesday by the Democratic convention committee, significantly scales back the atmosphere for Obama's second nomination address.
excerpt
Now now, it’s not like the Republicans were perfect, after all there was one empty seat at their convention.
Sorry, I’m a stubborn one sometimes ; )
my brain says it is the empty seats, my gut says it is something more sinister
Only reason for this is that they know there will be a lot of empty seats in the stadium. But the media would never show those empty seats anyway, so what are they afraid of.
He’s afraid God won’t like the competition.
With all those empty chairs, he would literally be beside himself!
Not mine but it was too good!
Second attempt: Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers. Capacity for convention: approx. 80,000
Third attempt: Time-Warner Cable Arena, home of the Charlotte Bobcats. Capacity for convention: approx. 29,000.
Thank you for my first really big guffaw of the day. At this point, I still can’t stop snickering.
Should read thousands of empty seats left out for the King Empty Seat.
On Monday, we had National Empty Chair Day. Thursday, we will have 73,778 EMPTY SEATS! Obama will never live that down. Clint Eastwood started something big. What an ad that would make.
73,778 EMPTY SEATS! OBAMA, YOU DIDN’T FILL THAT!
so now this seals it for me
even Rupert Murdoch has joined the Orwell news syndicate
it is common knowledge that the Dims were having trouble filling the 70,000 seat stadium
local Charlotte weather folks expect the weather to be fine the day of the speech
ergo - it’s not the weather, it’s the empty seats
The reason is either empty seats or a nearly all black crowd. Evidently the unions refused to play ball and pack the place with some white people.
This is about how it plays on TV. They will get a louder applause sound inside the arena. The weather is just a weak excuse. Remember - this is Obama we’re talking about and was advised by Axelrod to do this.
The sychophantic while liberal media ordained the next unqualified black President when the mayor of Newark New Jersy spoke to the Dimocraps. Good God!
But I’ll also agree they couldn’t fill that stadium.
I bet the DNC officals are having Elizabeth Warren do a mad rain dance in hope of a storm
Rush had a great point in his first hour today. The Dems are saying “well, Charlotte is the smallest city to host a convention since New Orleans, there just aren’t enough people to fill a 74,000-seat stadium.” So explain how the Panthers, who are not traditionally a powerhouse team, sell out every home game even with season ticket holders getting gouged for high-priced “personal seat licenses” over and above the cost of their tickets?

Isn’t there a college game on ESPN tomorrow night? Gotta be better than listening to the brown clown drone on and on.
