The sad thing is that this school is in the former Peabody High building which produced many famous alumni like Gene Kelly and Frank Gorshin.
The funny thing is that they call it Obama Academy for all purposes except for sports. The sports teams are called Pittsburgh Academy or something like that. They are trying to avoid headlines like “North Hills Slaughters Obama” or “Obama Gets Destroyed by West Mifflin”.

Nice pic. At that age, however, my girls would have insisted on driving ....

Wow, thanks for the details. Gene Kelly and Frank Gorshin? How cool is that?
A shame about the rest of it, though...maybe they can get another name change after November.

Actually, BM, its not the original Peabody. Its the original Reizenstein Middle School. They closed Peabody because the building was falling apart and moved the students to the Reizenstein Buidling and renamed it Peabody. Then after King Barry was elected, the uber liberal school board renamed the school for him... you know, because he had done so much in his life...

My Mum was an alumni of Peabody. Gorshin's parents lived a few doors down from my grandparents in Stanton Heights. One Thanksgiving we saw him going home for the holiday.
And 2 of my cousins on my Dad's side took dancing lessons with Kelly. He got famous; they didn't but they did end up in Hollywood and danced with the WWII entertainment group (USO?). Were dancers in one movie. I have no idea which one. They both found well to do husbands to marry and lived happily ever after out in California.
I'm just a little name dropper today! Tee-hee.

I know you’re not supposed to change the titles of articles, but in this case if I were a mod I’d make an exception. Your revision is priceless! ;-)

Whats more disturbing...a bus that had an expired inspection or a school named 0bama academy??? Or this.
When the other bus arrived, it had an expired registration sticker and they had to call for an additional bus, Mungo says.
