Real Conservatives Can't Vote Romney/Ryan
Me

Posted on 09/05/2012 2:47:19 AM PDT by MacMattico

I love Free Republic. I enjoy posting and reading other peoples insights and ideas. But I'm troubled and confused by the fact that while we all post and read daily the horrible things that Barack Obama is doing to our great nation, we are encouraged to "sit this one out" or vote third party. I understand Mr. Robinson owns this site and agree with his views on probably most every subject. I appreciate the stand he has taken and how he has always been true to his beliefs. He has provided an outlet that is invaluable to the Conservative community.

We've been through one day of the Democratic convention and I'm terrified. Mitt Romney wasn't even my fifth choice, but, my God, what an Obama with no fear of running in another election will do with four more years is unfathomable. And he doesn't need Congress, the man rules by Executive Fiat. I don't want to live under Socialism, I don't want to have my church forced to act against its conscience, I don't want my guns taken away and my (limited) wealth redistributed. I was shocked when God was taken out of the Dems platform. They don't even try to hide their disdain for a higher power, just blatantly remove God from their entire belief system. Basically show their hand that they want Jerusalem taken away from Israel. I can't take it anymore! I hear how eloquent Michelle Obama's speech was and I want to be sick. All lies! My family contains many military members, mostly Marines, they are sickened by their CIC. We were brought up to respect the Office of the President, but I'm finding it harder and harder to do every day. My sister is out of work after 30 years at the same company, and she is in a deep depression. My elderly mother is in a nursing home and is still finding it hard to find a primary care doctor and Obamacare hasn't even fully kicked in!

I live in NY and could vote for Mickey Mouse and it would make no difference. But I just can't sit around and hope others will do what I won't and vote for Romney/Ryan. So, yes, I will admit to compromising some of my conservative principles in voting Romney/Ryan because I don't think we will survive as a nation with four more years of Obama. Ryan helps make that decision a little easier. And with all Romney's flip-flops, I still think he will help this country in ways Obama the in-over-his- head President never could. The stakes in this election are just to damn high.

man u’re filled with fear and lies. I don’t personally believe (because I’ve seen no evidence) that electing Mitt the Lesser, or any other candidate, is going to “save” a nation without any moral foundation, and without any adherence to God’s will. Romney may serve to help republicans share the blame for the inevitable collapse, but he will absolutely NOT further the cause of conservatism, or move the republican party even a fraction of an inch toward supporting some unnamed conservative candidate in the future. Compromise is simply the act of giving your enemy that which he is not strong enough to take by force.
Since you’ve already tipped your hand, I don’t care to debate the issue with someone who’s only strategy is to keep repeating the same lies without listening. I pray for our nation, and I pray for Mitt, but I still can’t get behind a candidate who’s only redeeming quality is, as you ABO typpes have frequently pointed out; “He’s not Obama”. I don’t support Romney (yet), and I don’t, even by default, support Obama, and if your assertion is that I MUST do one or the other, then you sir (or madame), are a liar.

If it’s God’s will, and Mitt Romney publicly repudiates his support for sodomy and infanticide, I’ll gladly pull the lever for R&R in November. Until then, I will support those candidates that belive in something bigger than themselves. If these can’t be found, then I’ll support none-of-the-above.

when I was 22 I voted for Ross Perot because I thought Bush was not doing a good job. I was also pretty stoned at the time.

Were you in Va Beach in '93? We dated didn't we?

I voted for Perot (same reason-Bush not doing his job after Gulf War) We were partying (sloshed)in our local bar when the results came in & we were cheering Bush's defeat. A guy walked up to our table and said "you have no idea what you just did". Boy, was he right. I will never forget it.

I learned a VERY important lesson about voting for 3rd party and voting with emotion with absolutely NO intelligence of the issues.

Perot was an improvement in my voting habits considering I voted for Dukakis in '87 but it was an important step toward my Conservative Destiny.

The freak show in Charlotte should suffice as the call to arms, general quarters, for all here and across America who love this country.

Doesn't it piss you off? I watched a video of Little Dick Durbin harangue Brett Baer on Fox because he asked why the Dems took the word "GOD" and "Jerusalem" out of their platform.

The fake indignation was all I can take this morning.

Ginsburg is a liberal appointed by A Dim and Kennedy and Scalia are conservatives appointed by GOP presidents. The liberal justices retire when they are assured a liberal Dim president will appoint their successor (with the exception of Souter who was a lib appointed by Bush I)These are the 3 oldest justices.

Romney will appoint liberals to replace Scalia and Kennedy and possibly Ginsburg shifting the balance from 5-4 conservative to 6-3 liberal and that folks will be all she wrote..

Republicans will give us a liberal SCOTUS? Have you taken a look at the two lesbian communists that your boy put up there?

You are fooling only yourself. If you have your way your grandchildren will be living in the country formerly known as America and will know nothing about freedom outside the abstract. And, Sotomayer will be the CJ.

Where do the 'Montana Freepers for obama' meet, your house?

I am in the same boat as you on this election. I don’t like Romney, but I will almost certainly hold my nose and vote for him. I respect the decision of those who will vote third-party; who we vote for is a personal decision that we all have to make before nobody else but God. So I keep my head down and try to stay out of the Romney Wars. I’ll know my decision when I’m standing in that voting booth.

In the meantime, I’m not going to get sucked into the insult-slinging between camps here. Everybody’s got to make their own voting decision come November. My hope is that regardless of who somebody votes (or doesn’t vote) for as President, they vote conservative down the line in all the OTHER elections and help push Congress, and state and local governments, as far to the right as possible. Whatever one may think about Romney, the down-ticket races are just as, or maybe more, important to vote in.

LOL! No I was in Nanny Jersey at the time. My concept of Conservatism at the time was G.R.I.P.: Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians Whether it was local, state or national regarding legislative selections, I would vote Anti-Incumbent.

Romney is a liberal who appointed liberal judges and justices while he was Governor of Massachusetts. You can ignore that fact but that those are the facts...

I have no problem refusing to support a liberal Republican who will appoint liberal SC Justices.

Again, it who Romney will replace (Scalia and Kennedy) that is the problem. Obama appointed liberals in his first term to replace liberals. Romney will appoint liberals to replace conservatives.

I certainly can see your point. Romney is not a true conservative. But to not vote is to vote for Obama, who is also not a conservative.

So I’m holding the nose and swinging on the elephant’s tail, as I always do, even though I am not a Republican.

And I will match my conservative credentials against anyone’s.

“I’m not out to change your vote”

But many pushing Romney and the GOP are.

Folks like me are not going to change but I'm sure there are a few who are getting tired of the BS the ABO types are pushing and will sit the election out...
