Romney: Obama wants vets to cough up $$$ to pay for Obamacare

Mitt Romney attacked President Obama, during a pre-convention speech to the American Legion, for raising military health care costs in order to pay for Obamacare.
The Obama administration has also requested $12 billion in TRICARE fee increases, Romney said today. I will not ask our wartime military to shoulder more sacrifices while the rest of government grows. I will not ask our service members active or retired to pay more for their health care to free up room for Obamacare.
Anthony Principi, former Veterans Affairs Secretary, released a statement endorsing Romney in conjunction with the American Legion speech.
Our returning vets have an unemployment rate that is significantly higher than that of the average American, Principi said. We need a president who understands how to get the economy in gear so that it creates good jobs for everyone who seeks one, including our vets.
Obama should have a quick counter to that argument, though, as he can point to First Lady Michelle Obamas Joining Forces initiative that attempts to connect veterans to job opportunities at participating corporations.
Oh, and sorry for mentioning I'm a veteran, I've been told recently that I do that way too much...
The Death Panels definitely fix SocSec and Medicare.
Cut 10 yrs off the life expectancy and the numbers look good.
Romney proposes vouchers for Veteran health care so they can go buy private insurance. Maybe that would be better.
Exactly. The reason Obama and Big Media ignore the fact that he took $716 billion out of Medicare is this: in about 4 years, if Obama is reelected, there will be no more Medicare, no more TriCare, no more Medicaid. We will ALL be under Obamacare and our taxes will go up accordingly to pay for it all. Expect an extra 8-10% to the Feds to cover us all. And we will have no say in our care nor the care of our elderly loved ones.
Didn’t he step on his own tallywacker trying to mess with vet’s healthcare a couple of years ago?
He - who?

Obama speech to soldiers met with silence
4:43 PM 08/31/2012
President Barack Obama was greeted with fleeting applause and extended periods of silence as he offered profuse praise to soldiers and their families during an Aug. 31 speech in Fort Bliss, Texas.
His praise for the soldiers and for his own national-security policies won cheers from only a small proportion of the soldiers and families in the cavernous aircraft-hangar.
The audience remains quiet even when the commander-in-chief thanked the soldiers families, and cited the 198 deaths of their comrades in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The audiences reaction was so flat that the president tried twice to elicit a reaction from the crowd.
Hey, I hear you, he said amid silence.
The selected soldiers who were arrayed behind the president sat quietly throughout the speech.
CNN and MSNBC ended their coverage of the speech before it was half-over.

My father passed away five years ago. He was a retired vet (20 years, SFC), very ill, and relied on Tricare to cover a portion of his medicial expenses.
This doesn’t shock me in the least.
Our tricare premiums are increasing in October.
This vet wants obama to cough up a hairball and choke on it.
Coould you be more exact about Romney’s stance on Tricare. I have not seen nor heard of that. 23 Year Army vet and still curious. Thanks.
I’m a Disabled Vet and I get my medical care and meds from the VA. The word is already out, that if Obama is reelected, Vets will have to pay for their prescriptions. Right now, I pay a co-pay. That’s not enough for Obama; he wants disabled Vets to pay it all.
The guy in the headline.
You know, Obammy.
If youre the government, they know theres nowhere else you guys can go, youre stuck. Sometimes you wonder if there would be some way to introduce private sector competition, somebody else who could come in and say each soldier has X thousand dollars attributed to them and then they can choose where they want to go in the government system or the private system with the money that follows them. Mitt Romney
Just something he is considering.
As one veteran to another, do not ever be hesitant of admitting your service to our country. OIF vet
ditto.
My compnay usedtacould pay my TRICARE costs as a way of balancing out what the non-veterna employees recieve in beneiefits. Congress banned that one too. Commi rat b@st@rds!
