At the end of 1839, Frederic Chopin and George Sand moved into new digs in Paris and settled into an unmarried sexual relationship that scandalized absolutely no one in town. From this period came one of Fred’s finest creations. This waltz places the waltz beat in the left hand with the right hand phrased in duple time, thus the name.

Chopin: Waltz in A-flat, Op. 42 (“Two-Four”)

The next two years, Chopin was to continue his high quality of output and produce more masterpieces, but that’s for next week.

Hello Kathy, long time no read:

Still remember the nice card you made on the birth of my granddaughter(s). Not sure I remember which one(s) for sure. Maybe both. The older one turned 7 in May, the twins will be 5 in November.

Come about March 1, there will be another. My other daughter this time. We don’t yet know we’ll have a another granddaughter or a grandson. That will come in a couple of months.

I see you had a bear on the loose, too.

Yep - one of the addresses mentioned in the article is about 30 yards from my front door. Nana and I were both at work by then, so we missed the excitement.

This is a 3 day weekend.

For some of us, it's a 4 day weekend. Me for example. We work 9 hours M-Th, the 8 hours on the first Friday of a 2 week period, then get off the second Friday. Today was that second Friday.

And yes, I AM rubbing it in. But heh, there was high school football tonight, and there is college football tomorrow. So we can all enjoy. Didn't make a high school game, but hope to to few 2nd Fridays this fall. But I will be in the stands for a small college game tomorrow. My drive was too long last year, and I was unemployed. This year it's only 90 minutes or so, and I'm working again so can afford the gas.. for now at least. So...

I AM READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL, the way I like it, where you can hear the QB, the slap of the pads, and the occasionally colorful language from players and coaches on the sidelines.
