Imagine for a moment, if you will, Sarah Palin attending an event at Ohio State University. She casually greets college aged supporters, and a group of excited, young students decide to spell out the word Ohio using the old YMCA routine. The group is in place, arms readied, fans surrounding them armed with their cameras and cellphones. Then this happens
OIHI.
It is inarguable that the media, in all their smugness and we are intellectually superior attitude would have ripped her from the California coast to the glaciated plains of well Oihi.
Oi. Hi.
More like oy vey.
The smartest President ever to grace us with his intellect, the man who was destined to lead us to a better America, who was to lead the nation out of the doldrums of the Great Recession, couldnt lead three college kids to the proper spelling of a four-letter state.
The photo was tweeted by the Director of Mitt Romneys Ohio communications team, Chris Maloney, who added:
A word of advice to @BarackObama: it's "O-H-I-O" that has 18 electoral votes, not "O-I-H-O".
Maloney sees an O at the end, I see an I. You spell potatoe, I spell potato.
Admirably, a reporter from the Washington Post quickly tried to rescue the phonetically challenged President, claiming without much in the way of evidence, that the image was photoshopped, and thus a hoax.
Post reporter Rachel Weiner, wrote a piece originally titled, Yes, Obama Can Spell Ohio. It included a second image which showed the President and his college buddies eventually getting the spelling right. And the Washington Post tweeted out a link to her segment which included the following message:
Don't be fooled. This photo of Obama is photoshopped.
Instead of viewing the White House image and entertaining the possibility that there were two photos, Weiner jumped the gun and assumed that the spelling error was so improbable that it simply had to be photoshopped.
Turns out that Weiner and the Post were the ones looking rather foolish. A short time later, they acknowledged the existence of two photos, renamed the piece, Can Obama Spell Ohio?, and issued the following correction:
Correction: There are different photographs of Obamas attempt to spell Ohio from a similar angle. We incorrectly stated the first one appeared photoshopped.
Even in their correction, the bias shows. The Post did not say the photo appeared photoshopped, they said it isphotoshopped. Here was the original tweet again:
Don't be fooled. This photo of Obama is photoshopped.
Covering for the Presidents embarrassing mistakes cant be easy, but you have to give the Post and their reporters credit for trying.
In all fairness, Muslims spell from right to left...
That must be the .... 57th state.
lol
Joe Biden would have found a way to spell Ohio “P-O-T-A-T-O”
Let’s just say you would NEVER want to have Obozo join you to sing “YMCA” during karaoke.
“O-I-H-O”
Yes he does. Finally a true statement out of Obama.
Reply of the day, right there.
If you stand behind the group the word reads correctly; so, from Obama's perspective it seemed right. He simply failed to realize that to those facing them, the word was mirror-image.
............................
Or, maybe he's just a dork.
bingo
The big deal is is NOT the misspelling.
It takes four people to form four letters, somebody else goofed too.
Likely somebody said “You be ‘H’, you be “i”, and it wasn’t clear who he was talking to when.
No big deal.
But why does the WashPost have to get all defensive ???
In other words, he views the world backwards — communism is good, freedom is bad. What else is new?
The really funny part of this is that the Washington Post immediately — and without any evidence — claimed it was photoshopped. Its like a mother whose immediate reaction to being told her son committed a crime is that it can’t be true. Its a knee-jerk reaction that you have if someone you love is being attacked. And we all know how much the Washington Post loves Obama.
Obama is dumber than donuts.
How the media was all over Dan Quayle because he put an e on the end of potato.
He was naturally giving us the reverse teleprompter image
Don’t be fooled by the WaPo, they can’t tell what’s a photoshop or not by looking at which side their shirts button. DUH. Great investigative team.
Let’s assume all the loose arm gestures were correct. “Ohio” is then spelled correctly from B-HO’s point of view. However, he couldn’t think beyond himself to envision how OTHERS would see it. Typical. (Conversely, I’ve only seen a few Freepers “get” what I’m talking about...which is scary, too.)
I think this is so dumb! It was a mistake, not an indication of stupidity.
The probem is that EVERY TIME a conservative does something like this, the MSM takes it an runs, and perpetuates the myth that all conservatives are stupid. When O does it, not so much.
It makes me sick.
