Hey, Mr Criminal.... Rob me. I’m unarmed.....
Same thing as the Aurora theater that purportedly banned guns from its premises.
So, if, God forbid, a shooter wants to attack the CU campus, where do you think they will go? To the area where the Supreme Court said they can't ban guns or to the gun free area???
36 square miles surrounded by reality. Good engineering program but the rest of it.. sheesh, wouldn’t waist a farthing.
"Let's be sure students in the University of Colorado are completely disarmed. That ought to keep psychopaths from choosing our school as a safe hunting zone." CU-Boulder Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano.
I imagine that the thought of armed Americans scares the hell out of the Marxist “perfessors” that infest that joint.
I always keep my guns locked up...that’s where they’re the most useful when they’re needed most. </sarc >
As far as dorms, whether a campus classroom or dorm, campus is campus. If they're legal in campus classrooms they're legal in campus dorms.
Prolly could make a “killing” selling throwing knives and technique courses.
Let the litigation begin! The University can’t act ‘in loco parentis’ for students who have reached the age of majority. The University leadership would rather die than attempt to enforce sex-segregation or impose rules prohibiting co-habitation. Indeed, maybe even they are now operating a ‘public accommodation’.
Q: How is a dorm different than a motel? A: the hotel operator is far quicker to kick out unruly occupants.
The University can’t have it both ways, especially after Heller.
So CO Supreme Court JUST told them they can’t ban permit holders from carrying, so scale back and say they will just ban them from actually possessing a firearm if they are in University Housing? As for Graduate Students off-campus - it would seem they are just itching for another lawsuit.
What do you expect in the People’s Socialist Republic of Boulder, where they believe they can ride roughshod over others’ rights simply because they don’t agree... (Gee, why does that sound familiar???)
If the university takes so much as a penny from the federal government this should be struck down as unconstitutional.
UC is a government institution, there are NO private property rights like the theater.
Meh, go to Hampden Sydney College in VA...
Guns allowed, no prob.
This is an invitation to kooks. “Hey look, we can’t defend ourselves.”
Just about every other university in the country has similar policies.
Here in the People’s Republic, even with a CW permit, carrying a concealed weapon on a college campus is illegal.
I’m a sick man. I’m going to Vegas to put money on the line of CU being the next campus some left wing nut shoots and kills people.
