WAUKESHA, Wis.-- The largest crowd of the campaign so far for a Mitt Romney event welcomed home favorite son Rep. Paul Ryan at a massive rally here in the congressman's district Sunday night, pushing the GOP's vice presidential nominee to tears as he took the stage, setting off cheers with two simple words:
"Hi mom."
With that, voice cracking, Ryan showed his Wisconsin credentials to a crowd the Romney campaign hopes will be emblematic of the charismatic congressman's support in the Badger state, a reliably Democratic enclave the Republican candidate hopes to turn red this fall.
"My veins run with cheese, bratwurst, a little Spotted Cow, Leinie's, and some Miller," Ryan said, mentioning two well-known local beers. "I was raised on the Packers, Badgers, Bucks and Brewers. I like to hunt here, I like to fish here, I like to snowmobile here. I even think ice fishing is interesting."
"I'm a Wisconsinite through and through," Ryan said to cheers from a crowd which contained many members of Ryan's extended family, and which the campaign estimated to be more than ten thousand strong, likely the largest turnout ever for a Romney event.
The energy generated by Ryan seemed to inspire the man at the top of ticket, who took on a heckler midway through his own remarks, then turned the moment into an indictment of President Obama's campaign, who's tactics have riled Romney in recent weeks.

Democrats have already set the standard making it OK to run for Vice President and Congress at the same time. So Ryan can stay in and win his Congressional Race and be re-seated on Jan. 5. Then on Jan 20, he can resign his House seat to become VP, and Governor Walker can then appoint a Republican to take his place.

It’ll be our secret! ;-]
I am humbled by your words and agree 100%. I was concerned I would be banned as JR and others do not agree with our thoughts. However, I guess as long as we don’t lose our heads it will be ok.
Your passion on this shows and others support our views as well.
Regards!
If you haven't checked out the documentary "Dreams From My Real Father" by Joel Gilbert, I highly recommend it.
you can get a Ryan for US Congress bumper sticker from the WI GOP site or maybe from his site....it’s green in white print.
next time you see Ryan he will be hlding up a fishing product made in 5 key voting states. He is getting a dozen Bobbers With A Brain and another dozen to give to Romney! The ig fishing states will dtermine the election and our bobber parts are made in Mich, Ill, Ohio and Pa. along with Texas! This is a true american made product and getting jobs is number one in America. taxes mean nothing if you have no job!
Miff Rummnie - same as John McScream. Another RINO candidate. I am sick and tired of having to vote to KEEP someone out of office instead of feeling good about the candidate I am voting for. Two straight election I will be forced to vote to KEEP someone out of office. Two straight elections with looser RINOs as candidates. Bush was bad enough, but we are now left with these types. Ugggggggggg.
While under “normal” circumstances I’d agree with your excellent analysis (very well stated), I see a different dynamic in this election. Many of the old rules are out the window. This one........is now emotional. Americans are looking to reconnect with their true roots; true Americans who want to see this country reverted back to what it has previously been: proud, independent, entrepreneurial, with a STRONG distrust of central government.
Romney doesn’t bring out such emotions (yet?), but Ryan does.
I believe his selection as running mate may have been a bit of a cynical ploy by Romney and his campaign staff to appeal to the right of the Party, but no matter. It was inspired. Ryan represents and embodies what true Americans really want, and I think his presence on the ticket WILL be a significant changer.
