Palin will not speak at Republican convention
WASHINGTON | Sun Aug 12, 2012 7:36pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will not speak at the Republican nominating convention in Tampa later this month, she said in statement on Sunday.

"This year is a good opportunity for other voices to speak at the convention and I'm excited to hear them," Palin, who was Senator John McCain's running mate in the 2008 election, said in a statement on Gretawire, the blog of Fox News's Greta Van Susteren.

It won’t hurt ya to speak at the Rino Rodeo.
I like that phrase. Quite a bit. Well done.

> Ryan sat mute while mitt stated that he would NOT use Ryan's economic plan... that it would be HIS plan that they run on... on abc news this morning... Ryan never uttered a sound.

Geez. That was quick. As a condition of being selected for VP candidate, did Ryan agree to have his vocal cords cut?

So much for all this stuff about how "Ryan will steer Romney towards the right". Suuuuuuure he will....

What a cynical, sickening pile of cr@p this election is.

Why don’t you Sarah haters get your own thread and have at it..one more thing bugger off!!!!!

Always stuck me as odd. Because, while some may believe she is not ready for the big league or whatever your reason to not like(?) her.
Its hard to argue she is not solidly conservative and is mostly a positive influence.
And, an inspiration to the little guy who rarely breaks through the BS barrier of the media and the GOPe types.
She is as close the regular American and still have some sway.
Family issues and all.
Or, perhaps that is the real issue with Mrs P?

No matter how you try to rationalize it... they didn’t fit together because they NEVER had the same audience.

My comment was solely a bit of trivia and was never intended to be a political commentary on Sarah Palin speaking or not speaking at the convention. I apologize if I left that impression.

As for your statement 'they NEVER had the same audience," you couldn't be more true with respect to the Hendrix/Monkee's trivia.

Hendrix quit opening for the Monkees in the middle of his contract because the audience wasn't a Hendrix audience. He'd come out and play Purple Haze as the audience of teenieboppers screamed "We want Davey!"

Totally 159% disagree with your statement that Newt has done more for the cause than Sarah.

In my opinion, there is no comparison, in the other direction. Newt arguably even did more for the conservative cause domestically than Reagan did. Newt won a historic election, made Republicans the default majority in the House after 40 years out of power and forced a Democrat president to pass conservative domestic policies by winning the argument with the American public. Show me any other Republican who helped achieve as many concrete results as Newt did. Not saying Palin hasn't been a good contributor to the cause, but Newt spent a decade working in the House to push the party's platform to the right and sell it to the American public, and then reaped the gains of achieving huge electoral success for the party for another decade after that.

Palin loses points for not trying to run for President or any office after 2008. There's talking the talk and then there's walking the walk. When good people don't run, we're left with the likes of Boehner and McConnell running the day-to-day operations. Conservatives can offer all the rhetoric they want, but it's never going to be implemented if they leave the hard job of running for office up to the career politicians.

If so, it’s working.

The GOP isn't about truth, justice, and the American Way. It's about tax breaks for Fortune 500 donors and the Business Roundtable. Beyond that, it's for the Council on Foreign Relations and businessmen and bankers in other countries. It's for ruling the American People, not representing them -- much less defending them, much less yet acting as their policy protagonists.

The GOP belongs to rich people. Sad fact. They just demand we vote for their hand-licking dogs like Boehner and Mitch McConnell, and put up with their constantly ostracizing patriots as you describe.

Rush is going on and on about how we now have a spokesman to talk up our conservative ideology... well mitt kept him silent this morning and he most likely will keep his boot on Ryan's neck. I hope that I am wrong but nothing to date points to my being wrong about mitt.

....Ryan will outshine Romney and probably say 80%+ of what Sarah would have said.

Didn't you see the post above, about the obedience training Ryan is already getting? He won't say squat -- Romney's feeling threatened already and is giving him the Charlie McCarthy treatment. As in, shut up, boy, and let me do the talking.

She is as close the regular American and still have some sway. Family issues and all. Or, perhaps that is the real issue with Mrs P?

Here is the East Coast urbanites' beef with Sarah: She's American, they are not, and they don't want to be American. They actively dislike America, and insist that real Americans become more like them and validate their bastardized world.

They're like Sinclair Lewis; they want to sit around drinking wine all afternoon and blabbing back and forth about the latest French novel, and in between piking real America in the back -- the small-townies, the farmers, the pioneers, the patriots -- because they didn't go to good schools and get elite degrees in lit-crit and psych and French history. Middle America is all a POS because "those people" can't tell a Roquefort from a Stilton or a Pomerol from a Pouilly-Fuisse'. And they've never thrown a war and called that "the best achievable outcome".

Don't believe me? Start chasing links here, especially the Commentary article that started the fun. See also the David Frum article: He says he's a Republican. (Yeah, just like Romney and Jeffords and Olympia Snowe.)

Commentary dumps on Sarah.

David Frum, RiNO of Excellence, piles on.

And Gawker, too.

Check the reader comments posted by regular consumers of these sites .... they're like a lightning-flash of candid illumination of why Real America has so much trouble with Atlantic Slope RiNO's and Trotskyized Dims and Neocons.

A) "Two different theaters of conflict, two different strategies."

Quitting as a strategy...interesting.

______________________________________

B) "Sarah's theater is news cycles and election cycles."

At the time she quit her 'theater' was the governorship of Alaska.

________________________________

C) "writing books, trademarking, and speaking to any group that will listen, and building a war chest to take on the bad guys is part of her theater of operations."

where is the evidence that she is "building a war chest" rather than simply cashing in (which is fine but call it what it is)?

Do you know if they offered her a spot? If they didn’t then they are FOOLS!! I could understand Sarah deciding on her own not to speak, but if they didn’t give her the chance that lowers them in my opinion.

Those are the two offices she’s made for. She’d do a lot of good in either one.

Agree totally (and good rock trivia there!). No matter one’s personal feelings about Gov. Palin (and as a noob, I’m leaving that alone), having that grouchy, decrepit, one-foot-in-the-grave, warmongering, establishment-loving old coot speak—and not offering the base a Palin speech as consolation—would be a buzzkill of cosmic proportions.

Good move by Palin.

I mean if she spoke she’s be Reagan to Mitt’s Gerry Ford circa 1976 and we all know who that worked out.

I guess I need to change my tag line again, because you guys simply cannot read whats been written.

Sometimes it is so easy to get you Palinistas going. You realize most of us that engage you folks do it for sport.

Personally, I could care less about this election. I am from MA and my vote doesn’t matter. The country is going down the sewer, and there is not much you, me, or Sarah is going to do about it.

Stack Silver, lead, and banana chips.

Wow...good comeback.

I have to chuckle when you guys suggest I show respect. If someone posts something here lately that doesn’t not bow down in front, or perhaps behind Sarah, the names start flying. You are late to this particular thread.

I expect more from Christian men and women, but evidently you are only christian to folks that think, act, and look like y’all.

And as far as the part of the country I come from, I just spent a week and a half touring through Florida, Alabama, and MS. I respect that your are honorable people and what not, but have you noticed that your towns are empty. I have been in third world countries that have town centers more populated that those places.

So, when you can cobble an economy together give me a call.
