Gabby Douglas just captured America's hearts with a stirring victory as women's gymnastics all-around gold medalist at the Summer Olympics in London.
Despite this, George Stephanopoulos on ABC's This Week Sunday actually botched her name calling her Gabby Daniels (video follows with transcript and commentary):

VAN JONES: Watching Gabby's mom.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Gabby Daniels.
JONES: Gabby Daniels' mom break down in tears. You know the story. Here is this kid, she grew up in poverty, she never (inaudible). Her mom has to send Gabby away to a family she doesn't know. That family takes her in. She's mothering her kid by Skype. And she shows up at the Olympics, that little girl gets the gold medal. That's America. We're one family. Color doesn't matter. It's having that common goal.
STEPHANOPOULOS: And that is America. She's now on the cover of the corn flakes box. Steven Rattner.
STEVEN RATTNER: I was actually going to say the same thing. You know, when you watch these young kids, it's so amazing to see how hard they try, the stress (ph), the way they perform, but when you see someone like Gabby come from where she came and what she gave up and what she had to do to succeed was really quite amazing.
Her father is also a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force. Veteran of deployments in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Perhaps he was thinking of Jack Daniels.
not to mention NBC ran an ad for a new show with a monkey on the rings right after her win...
NBC has been running ads for that show for quite some time. What does a monkey doing gymnastics have to do with Douglas?

BUT, he remembers to mention her race repeatedly. That was the point of the story, after all.
If one wants to see racism everywhere, one will see racism everywhere.
Blacks today look at everything through a prism of race. They don’t leave home without the race card.

It's somewhat fun to watch a network who has excelled at this ridiculous "racist" meme get it thrown back at them in spades.........

I see a monkey doing gymnastics and I say, "Nice monkey."
A Liberal sees Gabby Douglas and says, "Black people look like monkeys."

And we're considered the party with a "race problem"???
I watched the whole gymnastics event that was televised and I probably saw the monkey doing gymnastics and it never entered my head to equate the two. What is wrong with people?
As long as there is money to be made by creating racism where none exists, this crap will continue to happen. As Booker T Washington basically said, race hustlers “don’t want the patient to get well.”
