Always the headline with alarm bells -- keep everyone anxious and worried -- even when the weather is good.
Drought to hurricanes! Never just good weather...
To: Cincinatus' Wife
“Good weather” attracts liberals of the California type. I think I’ll keep what we have.

If the only reason they’re staying in CA is due to its weather (and I can’t think of another reason), they’re not going to move to Texas.
But I get your point. :)
To: Cincinatus' Wife
1. If the weather is too dry, that's because of global warming.
2. If the weather is too wet, that's also caused by global warming
3, Too warm or too cold, you guessed it.
4. If the weather is perfect, global warming is about to screw it up.

For nthe last three years they have been calling for more and worse hurricanes,
Sooner or later they will get it right, but they really don’t have any better idea about what we will get than I do.

What would we do without the weatherman to tell us to worry about the weather.

Hebert studied the 20 wettest and 20 driest Julys on record for Houston and found a striking correlation with hurricane activity. Correlation /= Causation. TC

Here in Michigan I haven’t mowed my grass since the first week of June. In my immediate vicinity we’ve gotten just over a half inch of rain in July and about 3 inches total since April.
Its been Africa hot here.

"Sooner or later they will get it right, but they really dont have any better idea about what we will get than I do." Actually, once upon a time, they "did" have a reasonable (and improving) track record. Unfortunately, their premier modeller/predictor said that AGW was BS and not reflected in the appearance of more hurricanes or other weather. He was forced into retirement.
To: Cincinatus' Wife
Having been hammered by Rita in 2005 and Ike in 2008, hurricanes aren't something I ignore.
The rain we are getting here is coming in straight off the Gulf.
If there is a hurricane in the Gulf, there is a good bet it's headed straight for me again.

He still runs the Tropical Meteorology Project at CSU; and he still releases hurricane prediction forecasts.

Wet, cooler July? Where? Sure as hell ain’t here in South Texas.....and the report came out of Houston?
We are in a stage 3 drought condition here in Alice and awaiting a degrade to stage 4. I expect the heat in August will exceed the daily 100+ we have had every day in July.
The weather service has spent trillions on upgrading their predictions and still can’t predict anything further than (1) 3 hours in the future or (2) than what they see out of the window. And......we are to believe this “scare” story?

During July 2012 we had rain every afternoon and again at night. The cumulative total was in excess of 12”. On one day we had 1.8 “ in 24 hours.
I haven’t seen the summation yet but it must be near if not exceeding historical records for the month.
The drought of may and june was deluged away

"Wet, cooler July? Where? Sure as hell aint here in South Texas.....and the report came out of Houston?" Well, Washington State for starters. Also a wetter/cooler May and June as well. Coolest/wettest "summer" we've had since "I" moved up here. In fact, I would say we have not yet actually HAD "summer".

I had gathered that what had happened to him did not leave him "a happy camper"....perhaps he had wanted to keep teaching, I dunno.

I don’t turn on the Weather Channel anymore. They preach global warming, and they’re never as accurate as my local weather guys.
